WOU responded in the second set with Crowell and DeCarli posting kills before a double-block from York and DeCarli had the Wolves looking at a 4-1 lead. Following a run by the Otters to get back to within two at 10-8, WOU began to pull away when a kill by Crisp sparked a 5-0 run as Crisp added another kill, then teamed with Crowell for a block and after an Otter error, Crowell capped the run with a kill at 15-8. WOU kept the pressure on closing the set on a 4-1 run with DeCarli and Smith collecting kills before Crisp and DeCarli combined for a block and then a solo block by Crisp gave the Wolves a 25-15 second set win to even the match.

A York kill and then three straight kills from DeCarli kept things close early in the third set before the Otters moved out to a 10-4 lead. Kills by Smith and Crisp kept the deficit at five before Cal State Monterey Bay closed the set on a 5-1 run to take the set at 25-14.

WOU opened the fourth set with a 3-0 lead after an Otter service error, Crowell spun in a pair of service aces. The Otters responded with an 8-0 run to move out to an 8-3 lead. A pair of DeCarli kills and one from Crisp had the deficit back to two. The Wolves kept the deficit at two points with Crowell posting a kill at 13-11 and after an attacking error had it at 14-12, the Otters went on a 6-0 run to move out to a 20-12 lead.
