MONMOUTH, Ore. – It was another strong day out on the track and field for the Western Oregon University men's and women's teams as they tallied several first-place results and other results becoming new season-best marks.
Kaylee Wright continued to improve on her already strong mark in the women's javelin adding to her NCAA Division II Provisional Mark with a throw of 144-2 to win the event. 
JJ Walker is approaching the Provisional Mark in the men's pole vault as he climbed to another season-best mark of 15-03 (4.65m) to win the event. The Provisional Mark sits at 4.81m.
Maliyah Thompson won both the women's 100-meter hurdles and the women's 200-meter dash, while also running a leg of the first-place 4x100 relay. Competing in all three events for the first time this season, Thompson posted a top time of 15.66 in the 100-meter hurdles, a time of 26.86 in the 200-meter hurdles and then teamed with Maya Hopwood, Ana Popchock and Logan Jackson to post a time of 49.33 in the 4x100 relay.
Also competing in the women's 100-meter hurdles, Rilee Carstensen just missed her season-best mark so far in the event crossing in fourth with a time of 16.76. Amity Deters also raced in the event coming in seventh.
Aaron Hanible won both the men's 110-meter hurdles and the men's 400-meter hurdles. He also was part of the 4x100 relay with Dominique Loggins, Walker and Eli Nafziger that came in first with a time of 44.15. Hanible also ran the third leg of the 4x400 that came in first with a time of 3:27.79 as he ran with Deshaun Stevens, Emmett Klus and Walker. In the 110-meter hurdles, Hannible had the top time of 16.40 just off his season-best mark. He then had the top time of 57.85 in the 400-meter hurdles.
Walker also competed in the men's 110-meter hurdles coming in second with a time of 16.76, just off his season-best time. 
Caitlin Heldt paced the field in the women's 1,500 coming in with a time of 5:01.37. WOU had several other athletes in the event with Lindie Larson setting a new season-best time of 5:10.15 to come in third. Shannon Smith added a new season-best time coming in right behind Larson in fourth with a time of 5:11.47. Kaiya Leamy also ran for the Wolves coming in sixth with a new season-best time of 5:16.89.
Justin Crosswhite again led the way in the men's 1,500 crossing with the top time of 3:54.07 to win the event by over five seconds. His time is also a new season-best. He also ran the second leg of one of the WOU 4x400 relay teams coming in second with a time of 3:30.46. He ran with Trey Reed, Bryce Mefford and Carson Austin.
In addition to Crosswhite in the 1,500, Bailey Smith set a new season-best mark coming in fourth with a time of 4:02.93. It was also a new season-best time for Dominic Giordano as he crossed in sixth with a time of 4:04.68. Adam Alnazer also competed in the event for the Wolves coming in seventh.
Ashley Hauger came out strong in the women's 800-meter coming away with the top time of 2:25.59 racing in the event for the first time this year. Tresai McCarver ran the 800 for the first time this year as well coming in fifth. She also ran a leg of the 4x400 that came in third as she was joined by Deters, Hauger and Leamy.
The men's 800-meter was loaded with Wolves as five competed in the event with four finishing in a row. Klus led the way for WOU just missing his season-best time in the event when he crossed at 1:56.49 to come in fourth. Reed was right behind setting a new season-best time of 1:57.42 to place fifth. Dustyn Mckenney was the next in for the Wolves crossing in sixth with a new season-best time of 2:00.35. Giordano, running in the first 800 of the season, crossed in seventh with a time of 2:01.46. Talon Aguilar ran the 800 for the first time this season and crossed in 11th.
Nafziger competed in a few other events on the day as he came in second in the men's 200-meter with a time of 24.41 running the event for the first time this year. He also placed second with a solid showing in the javelin hitting a distance of 159-06. Nafziger also ran a leg of the 4x100 and the 4x400.
Michaela Yonkman ran in the women's 400-meter hurdles for the first time this year crossing with a time of 1:06.62. 
Cedar Davis-Frankfort came in third in the men's 5,000.
Sam Cole led three Wolves in the men's hammer hitting a distance of 155-11. Owen Collins placed second with a new personal-best throw in the event of 152-9. Brother Karsten Collins was third hitting a distance of 150-1. 
In the women's hammer, Moana Gianotti set a new personal-best throw of 148-6 to come in second. Liliana Lyness came in third hitting a mark of 126-10 which is a new season-best. Wright threw the hammer for the first time this season coming in seventh. Lyndee McLauchlin also threw the hammer for the first time this season coming in eighth. Ellie Osborn rounded out the Wolves in the hammer coming in ninth.
In addition to Walker competing in the men's pole vault, Stevens came in third.
In the women's triple jump, Lauren Berry set a new personal-best mark of 31-6.5 to come in second.
Jalon Fields came in second in the men's triple jump hitting a mark of 43-07. Jacob Flury also entered in the event coming in fourth with a distance of 40-11.50. 
Makenzie Smith posted a strong final jump in the women's long jump coming in first with a distance of 16-04.25 for a new season-best mark. Berry came in third with a mark of 15-11.50 and McLauchlin placed fourth.
Walker, Fields and Flury went 1-2-3 in the men's long jump. Walker was close to his season-best distance coming in first with a mark of 20-08.50. Fields was right behind with a distance of 20-07.75 and Flury rounded out the group placing third.
In addition to Wright's strong throw in the javelin, WOU had eight total enter in the event. Krystal Andres set a new season-best throw of 120-11 to come in third. McLauchlin came in fourth with a throw of 114-07. Jenelle Hurley set a new season-best in the javelin hitting a mark of 108-11 to come in sixth. Ana Popchock also reached a new season-best throw of 101-10 to come in seventh. Smith came in eighth, Deters ninth and Madeline Lambing in 11th rounded out the group in the javelin for the Wolves.
Jake Thompson and Stevens also competed in the men's javelin with Thompson coming in fifth and Stevens placing sixth.
Gianotti led the way in the women's discus hitting a mark of 131-10 to set a new season-best mark and win the event. Andres, throwing the discus for the first time this year, came in second with a distance of 115-05. Osborn came in third in the event.
Karsten Collins led the way in the men's discus hitting a distance of 141-02. Owen Collins came in third with a throw of 133-06.
Owen Collins came in first in the men's shot put as he was just of a personal-best throw hitting a distance of 47-07.75. Cole came in third hitting a mark of 44-04.75 and Karsten Collins nearly tied Cole hitting a distance of 44-04.25 to come in fifth.
Gianotti continued her strong showing on the day as she won the women's shot put with a throw of 39-05.75. Lyness came in third with a throw of 33-00.25 competing in the event for the first time this season. Hurley placed sixth and Smith came in seventh in the event.
Hurley won the women's high jump hitting a height of 5-03.75, leaving her just off her personal-best so far at WOU. Popchock and Lambing also competed in the event for the Wolves with Popchock coming in third and Lambing in fourth.
Stevens won the men's high jump coming close to setting a new season-best when he hit a height of 5-06.00.
In the relays, WOU entered two teams in the women's 4x100 relay with Hopwood, Thompson, Popchock and Jackson winning with a time of 49.33. Hurley, Carstensen, Berry and Yonkman competed in the other relay coming in with a time of 52.46.
In the men's 4x100, WOU had the only team entered in Loggins, Hanible, Walker and Nafziger as they crossed with a time of 44.15.
In the women's 4x400 relay, Hopwood, Hurley, Yonkman and Carstensen led the way with a time of 4:11.39 to win the event over the other two entries. WOU also had another team competing in Deters, Hauger, McCarver and Leamy as they placed third.
In the men's 4x400, WOU entered three teams. Stevens, Klus, Hanible and Walker won with a time of 3:27.79. The group of Reed, Crosswhite, Mefford and Austin came in second with a time of 3:30.46. Wyatt Smith, Mckenney, Matthew Schenk and Nafziger also competed coming in fourth.
WOU will now prepare for the John Knight Twilight meet that will be hosted by the Wolves on Apr. 9-10.
