CORVALLIS, Ore. – Coming off of a busy Friday during day one of the Oregon State High Performance, the Western Oregon University men's and women's track and field teams were back at it Saturday recording several season-best and some personal-best marks.
The women's 4x100 relay team of Maya Hopwood, Ana Popchock, Rilee Carstensen and Maliyah Thompson ran to a season-best time of 48.37 to come in fourth.
Hopwood and Thompson both competed in the 100-meter with Hopwood near her season-best time crossing at 12.32 to place sixth. Thompson ran a new season-best time of 12.77 to come in 11th.
The men's 800-meter was loaded with Wolves. Hunter Hutton continued to improve his personal-best in the event coming in with a time of 1:52.78 to place 11th. Max Carmona had a strong debut in his first meet of the outdoor season crossing at 1:53.75 to place 15th. Justin Crosswhite came in 21st with a time of 1:54.50. Curt Knott was right behind in 22nd with a new season-best time of 1:54.69. Emmett Klus hit a personal-best time of 1:55.10 coming in 24th. Timothy Rambo came in 29th with a new personal-best time of 1:56.24. Adam Alnazer added a season-best time of 1:56.28 to come in 30th. Trey Reed placed 34th and Dustyn McKenney came in 35th to round out the Wolves in the 800.
Jalon Fields had a solid result in the triple jump hitting a distance of 46-02.75 to come in third. Marlon Harrison also competed in the event coming in sixth with a distance of 43-07.25.
It was a new season-best throw for Moana Gianotti in the shot put hitting a distance of 42-05.25 to come in seventh.
Owen Collins made the finals of the shot put eventually hitting a distance of 47-10.75 to place eighth. Sam Cole also competed in the event and was near his season-best hitting a mark of 44-09.00 to come in 11th.
Shayla Solomon collected a new season-best in the 800-meter crossing with a time of 2:19.53 to come in 18th. Ashley Hauger also ran in the 800 and was close to her season-best coming in at 2:24.06 to place 26th.
Kaylee Wright hit a distance of 132-05 in the javelin to place seventh. Darian Wilson and Lyndee McLauchlin also competed in the event with Wilson coming in 18th and McLauchlin in 20th.
Austin Goldstein threw in the javelin and came in 11th hitting a distance of 156-10.
Both Devin Hasher and Brennen Sorah competed in the high jump and were near their season best heights in the event with Hasher coming in fourth reaching a mark of 6-02.25. Sorah came in eighth with a height of 5-10.50.
Popchock was close to her personal-best in the 100-meter hurdles posting a time of 15.69 to come in 14th. Thompson was right behind in 16th with a time of 15.81. Michaela Yonkman was just behind Thompson coming in with a time of 16.18 to place 18th.
Aaron Hanible wasn't far off his season-best time in the 110-meter hurdles when he crossed at 16.09 to place 11th.
Competing in his first event and meet of the outdoor season, Gabe Arce-Torres crossed with a time of 50.82 to place fifth in the 400-meter.
WOU will now prepare for several meets this coming week, starting with the GNAC Multi Combined Championships in Ellensburg this Monday and Tuesday.
