Cantu and Leamy Record Season-Best Times, While Cole Comes Close to Season-Best Mark Thursday at Frank Haskins

NEWBERG, Ore. -- The Western Oregon University men's and women's track and field teams sent three student-athletes to the Frank Haskins Invitational on Thursday in Newberg hosted by George Fox. Kaylin Cantu and Kaiya Leamy each ran to season-best times in their events, while Sam Cole was close to his season-best mark in the hammer.

Cantu trimmed over 18 seconds off her season-best time in the 1,500 as she came in fifth with a time of 5:07.41.

Leamy
improved her season-best time by over six seconds in the 3,000-meter steeplechase crossing with a time of 13:04.37 to come in second.

Cole was just off his season-best distance in the hammer hitting a mark of 162-09 to come in third.

WOU will close the week tomorrow (Friday) when they will have a small squad traveling to compete in the Oregon Twilight that begins around 2:45 p.m.
