MONMOUTH, Ore. – Earning one of the top academic achievements for the year, Western Oregon University had 49 student-athletes earn Division 2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards for the year.
In order to earn the honor, student-athletes must hold a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA, have completed a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work at a two-year and/or four-year institution and been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year (given the vast experiences institutions have had this year when it comes to participation, all athletes who meet earlier mentioned criteria are still eligible as long as they were still an active member of the roster during this academic year).
There was even distribution across the board with football leading the way with eight. Volleyball, along with men's and women's track and field each had seven. Softball, baseball and soccer all had five on the list. Women's basketball tallied three, while men's basketball added two on the list.
