MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon volleyball team hits the road for the final time this season as it travels to take on Western Washington on Thursday and Simon Fraser on Saturday - both games starting at 7 p.m.
The Wolves defeated Simon Fraser in five sets on Oct. 6, coming back from a 2-0 deficit, and lost to then-No. 11 Western Washington in three sets on Oct. 8.

WOLVES HEADING INTO THE WEEKÂ | 2022 STATISTICS
WOU is coming off splitting a pair of home games this past week, defeating Montana State Billings 3-1 on Thursday before losing to Seattle Pacific in three Saturday.
Sarah Crowell leads the Wolves in kills at 2.55 per set and closely followed by
Madison Hornback (2.52) and
Bailee Hartsook (2.37).Â
Laney O'Neil leads the team in assists at 5.52 per set while Hornback has a team-best 29 aces. Defensively, Chloe Asciuotto (0.75) and
Delaney Smith (0.72) lead the team in blocks per set while Smith leads the team in overall blocks with 52.
Ally Henry is averaging 3.71 digs per set to lead WOU while Hornback (2.68) and O'Neil (2.00) are averaging 2.0 or more digs per set as well.
WESTERN WASHINGTON HEADING INTO THE WEEKÂ | 2022 STATISTICS
The Vikings won a pair of matches on the road last week against top-four GNAC opponents, defeating Northwest Nazarene 3-1 on Thursday and beating Central Washington in five on Saturday.
Calley Heilborn leads five WWU players averaging more than two kills per set at 2.98, followed by Chloe Roetcisoender (2.58), Olivia Fairchild (2.38), Gabby Gunterman (2.24) and Gabby Kepley (2.04). Malia Aleaga does the setting for the Vikings, averaging 10.3 assists per set while Gunterman leads the team in aces with 28. Roetcisoender (1.27) and Fairchild (1.15) lead the team in blocks per set while Kasey Woodruff (3.46) and Heilborn (3.29) lead WWU in digs per set.
SIMON FRASER HEADING INTO THE WEEKÂ | 2022 STATISTICS
The Red Leafs split on the road last week, losing in three at Central Washington before bouncing back to defeat Northwest Nazarene 3-1 on Saturday.
Brooke Dexter leads SFU in kills at 2.91 per set followed by Jocelyn Sherman (2.56). Eva Person (5.71) and Serena Gentile (4.74) do the setting for the Red Leafs while Sherman leads the team with 33 aces. Kayln Hartmann is averaging a team-best 0.99 blocks per set followed by Abby Willett at 0.85 and Ava Khademi leads the team at 2.66 digs per set.

MAKING STRIDES IN YEAR ONE UNDER NAHALE-A
The Western Oregon volleyball team with its eight wins has already surpassed last season's win total (4-21) along with their 2019 (5-22), 2018 (6-21) and 2017 (7-20) win totals in head coach
Kaiao Nahale-a's first season at the helm. Their five GNAC wins is the most since winning seven conference games in 2016. The Wolves are looking for their first double-figure win season since that 2016 season (10-17).
BIG WOLVESÂ WIN TO OPEN GNAC PLAY - FIRST VICTORY IN FAIRBANKS SINCE 2016
WOU opened GNAC play on Sept. 8 with a five-set win over Alaska Fairbanks, breaking the Nanooks' seven-match win streak, snapping an eight-match losing streak to them and winning in Fairbanks for the first time since 2016.
Sarah Crowell paced the Wolves with a season-high 16 kills while
Madison Hornback added 15 and
Bailee Hartsook had 10.
HORNBACK, CASAREZ MAKE SMU ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
The Western Oregon volleyball team had a pair of representatives on the SMU All-Tournament Team from the event that took place from Sept. 1-3 in Lacey, Washington, in
Madison Hornback and
Sophia Casarez. Hornback had a big weekend in totaling 52 kills, 47 digs and nine aces in the Wolves' four matches while Casarez had 96 assists for the Wolves.
