PORTLAND, Ore. – Collin Warmouth and RJ Veliz have excelled in the classroom this year and both were named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference All-Academic Team on Wednesday.
Warmouth is on the list for the second straight season and holds a 3.81 GPA while majoring in biology. Veliz holds a solid 3.75 GPA while majoring in exercise science.
Warmouth is a sophomore guard from Roseburg, Ore., playing in 16 games this season including five starts. He has tallied 66 points, 24 rebounds, 13 assists, four steals, two blocks, made 24 field goals and eight three-pointers in averaging 13.4 minutes per contest. Warmouth has reached double-figures in scoring four times this season with a high of 12 occurring three times. He added multiple rebounds in six games, reaching a high of four in three games. Warmouth dished out three assists against Cal State East Bay and came away with two steals against Alaska Fairbanks.
Veliz is a redshirt freshman guard from Woodburn, Ore., playing in five games this season that includes five starts. He has tallied 32 points, 21 rebounds, seven assists, six steals, a block, made 13 field goals and a trio of three-pointers while averaging 9.9 minutes per contest. Veliz went for a season-high seven points against Saint Martin's, grabbed multiple rebounds in six games, reaching a high of six against Cal State San Bernardino, dished out two assists versus Fort Lewis and added four steals against Cal State San Bernardino.
