MONMOUTH, Ore. – The annual Western Oregon University football spring game will take place on Saturday, May 14 at 2 p.m. at McArthur Field. Tailgating will open at 12 p.m. The event is sponsored by Arena Sports Bar & Grill and Rookies Sports Tap who will be providing light snacks, cider, and wine as well as nonalcoholic beverages free of charge. The game is open to the public and there is no cost to attend.
For fans who had a designated parking spot last season, that spot will be reserved for them for the spring game. Wolves Club will be opening renewals for the 2022-23 season. Priority for parking spots will be given to previous Wolves Club members up until June 15. After June 15th, priority will be given on a first come, first serve basis. Wolves Club is the athletic booster for Western Oregon University. Members enjoy opportunities to participate in member's only events, early access to tickets and tailgating spots, as well as invitations to Athletic events. You do not need to be a Wolves Club member to tailgate for the spring game. There are a limited number of spots available in the Red Zone parking lot beside the football field. It is recommended that you arrive early to secure your spot.
WOU returns multiple top contributors from the 2021 season as they make the move into the Lone Star Conference that features 11 total games, nine conference contests and six home games. Running back Omari Land is poised for another all-conference season as he led the team in rushing with 10 touchdowns and 947 yards. Upcoming quarterback Gannon Winker shined in the season finale throwing a trio of touchdowns. Receivers Thomas Wright, Damon Hickok and Marquis Sampson return after combining for over 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns last year. One of the top linebackers in the country is poised for another big year in Jaylin Parnell after coming away with 78 tackles and 8.5 sacks. The secondary has multiple returners in Ryan Minniti, Joey Sinclair and Machiah Lee, as they all ranked in the top five on the team in tackles. Anthony Mack Jr. came on strong down the stretch and ended the year with a pair of sacks. L.J. Lovelace helps anchor a defensive line that returns a strong core back for the 2022 season. Lovelace finished the year with six tackles for loss and added seven quarterback hurries. Head coach Arne Ferguson is approaching 100 career victories at WOU, entering the season with 94.
