CORVALLIS, Ore. – Kaylee Wright started Saturday off strong in the javelin as her new personal-best throw helped highlight another strong day for the Western Oregon University men's and women's track and field teams during day two of the Oregon State High Performance.
Wright hit a new PR of 158-8 which moves her to second on the WOU all-time list. In the process, that new distance is also the fourth-best in NCAA DII so far this season. On the day, Wright finished second in the event.
Amari Hendrix added a PR in the 100 when he crossed with a time of 11.13 to place 14th. James Mazzeo was close to matching his PR in the event before coming in at 11.24 to place 19th.
Maya Hopwood was close to her season-best time so far this outdoor season in the 100 when she crossed at 12.24 to place seventh. Taryn Wilson was close to her PR in the event before coming in with a time of 12.72 to place 14th. Josie Lavato rounded out the results for the Wolves coming in 19th with a time of 13.00.
Maliyah Thompson and Hailey Blue competed in the 100 hurdles with Thompson coming in ninth with a time of 15.44 and Blue placing 14th.
Lyndee McLauchlin also competed in the javelin coming in 23rd with a distance of 127-2.
Austin Goldstein came in seventh in the javelin hitting a distance of 191-11. Eli Nafziger hitting a throw of 173-6 to come in 12th.
Kalulusno Ngaida came in 10th in the high jump clearing a height of 4-11.5.
Devin Hasher cleared a new season-best in the high jump reaching a height of 6-4.75 to come in third.
Moana Gianotti came in seventh in the shot put with a distance of 41-9.75. Halle Hargett also competed in the shot put placing 16th.
Owen Collins came in seventh in the shot put reaching a distance of 47-7, for a new season-best mark.
Marlon Harrison and Jacob Flury nearly hit the same distance in the triple jump with Harrison coming in 10th with a mark of 41-8.75 and Flury coming in 11th with a mark of 41-5.25. It was a new season-best distance for Flury.
Justin Crosswhite led the Wolves in the 800 coming in 10th with a time of 1:53.01. It was a new PR in the 800 for Emmett Klus when he came in with a time of 1:55.04 to place 19th. Keeton Sanchez came in 31st, Timothy Rambo came in 39th, Matthew Schenk placed 50th and Bryce Mefford came in 53rd.
Peyton Green hit a new PR time in the 800 coming in at 2:24.71 to place 41st.
Jessy Hart was close to her season-best time in the 400 before coming in with a time of 1:00.34 to place 11th.
Gabe Arce-Torres was also close to his season-best time in the 400 before coming in with a time of 49.56 to place fourth. It was a new PR for Carson Austin in the 400 when he crossed with a time of 53.25 to place 23rd.
It will be a busy upcoming week for the Wolves. Five student-athletes will travel to Bellingham this Monday and Tuesday to compete in the GNAC Multi Championships. Later in the week, WOU will be sending athletes to Oregon Twilight, Portland Twilight and the Linfield Open.
