NOTES FOR THIS WEEK...

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
  • Women's basketball is set to play three games this week, starting with George Fox (0-1) at NPE Building 5 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a trip to Lacey, Washington, to compete in the SMU Tournament. The Wolves are scheduled to face Chico State (1-1) on Friday at 5 p.m. and Samona State (1-1) on Saturday at 1 p.m.

  • WOU is coming off back-to-back wins against the Academy of Art and Westmont College last week at home. The Wolves won by an average of 14 points despite trailing by double figures in the opening six minutes of each contest (16-2 to Academy of Art, 13-3 to Westmont).
  • Cali McClave leads the team at 18.5 points to go along with 4.5 assists per game whiel Bella Pedrojetti is averaging 17.5 points and Triniti Youngblood is at 12.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.
  • WOU hasn't played against George Fox since 2009, where the Wolves lost 59-53. They are 0-3 in their last three matchups, dating back to 2005.
  • During the 2022-23 season, the Wolves defeated Chico State with a score of 66-64. They are looking to set a three-game winning streak against the Wildcats, having previously suffered eight consecutive losses to them. Since 2001, the Wolves hold a record of 2-8 against the Wildcats.
  • WOU is looking to make it four consecutive wins against Sonoma State. In the 2022-23 season, the Wolves beat the Seawolves 56-47. The Wolves are 4-1 against the Seawolves dating back to 2000, with the largest win coming in the 2021-22 season with a result of 81-56.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
  • The Wolves opened the season last week at the GNAC/CCAA Conference Challenge in San Bernardino, California. The Wolves fell to host and 13th-ranked Cal State San Bernardino 93-71 before suffering a tough 99-92 overtime loss to Cal State Monterey Bay.
  •  WOU point guard Qiant Myers had a strong, all-around weekend - averaging 13 points, 8.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game. Jason Gallant leads the team in scoring at 19 points per game - doing much of his damage at the free-throw line, scoring 20 of his 38 points (20-for-26).
  • Redshirt freshman Mekhi McIntyre shined offensive off the bench in his first two collegiate games - scoring 17 points in 25 minutes (going 2-for-3 from 3-point range) against CSUSB and scoring 11 points in 22 minutes against CSUMB. He's 11-for-15 from the field, including 4-for-5 from 3-point range.
  • WOU has played Multnomah twice since 2010 - beating the Lions in their last meeting 110-61 on Dec. 16, 2014, in Monmouth, and winning 99-66 in Monmouth Dec. 2, 2010.
  • This will be the second-straight year WOU takes on Stanislaus State at this event, defeating the Warriors last season 83-72 behind 19 points from Cameron Benzel.
  • This is the third year in a row WOU is taking on Sonoma State at their home court, winning 77-56 on Nov. 20, 2021, and beating the Seawolves 93-70 Nov. 19, 2022, thanks to 20 points apiece from graduated players Cameron Cranston and John Morrill-Keeler.
VOLLEYBALL | GNAC Standings
  • WOU will be playing its final two games of the season in road contests at MSU Billings and Seattle Pacific this week after falling at home this past week to Western Washington and Simon Fraser.
  • The Wolves still have something to play for as they are going for its first 10-win season since 2016. If the Wolves reach 11 wins with two victories this week, it would be the most wins for the program since going 21-6 in 2012.
  • The Wolves defeated MSUB in five sets at home earlier this season and have won three straight against the Yellowjackets.
  • WOU fell in three sets at home to Seattle Pacific earlier this season and have lost three straight to the Falcons. The Wolves will be looking for its first win in Seattle against the Falcons since 2012.
