WOU's Cortese named GNAC Baseball Player of the Week

PORTLAND, Ore. --- Western Oregon's AJ Cortese was named the GNAC Baseball Player of the Week after having a big impact on the Wolves' offensive outburst in a four-game sweep of Central Washington on Saturday and Sunday at WOU Baseball Field.

Cortese went 7-for-13 (.538) with a home run, three doubles, six RBI and five runs during the Wolves' sweep of Central Washington. He had three multi-hit games, scored in all four games and drove in a run in three of the four contests. He finished the week with an OPS of 1.563.

On the season, Cortese is hitting .333 with three homers (second for WOU), eight doubles (leads WOU), a triple, 26 RBI (leads WOU) and 17 runs. He's second on the team in slugging percentage (.544) and third in OPS (.959).

The first-place Wolves are off until hosting a five-game series against MSU Billings starting 2 p.m. on April 27.
