PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Western Oregon University Athletic Department took second place in the 2022-23 GNAC All-Sports Trophy announced Tuesday by the conference.
Â
The Wolves and their 7.27 score in the Dormeyer System (see below) finished only behind Western Washington (8.77). The Wolves won the second-most team conference championships with three (baseball, men's indoor track & field, women's indoor track & field) – finishing only behind WWU's six.
Â
WOU took second on the men's side with a 7.22 – finishing behind Western Washington (8.01) – while the women took third (6.16), finishing behind WWU (8.23) and Simon Fraser (6.53).
Â
Western Oregon last won the GNAC All-Sports Championship (which dates back to the 2001-02 season) in 2007-08, the WOU last won the men's title in 2017-18 (WOU has won three men's titles overall) and the Wolves have never won a women's title.
Â
From 2002 to 2016, the All-Sports Championship was based on a raw points system, with teams receiving points in two-point increments based on their finish that season. Since 2017, scoring has been based on the Dormeyer System, which determines an average score for each institution based on its finish in each conference sport and the number of GNAC sports sponsored by each institution.
