WESTERN OREGON NOTES
- The Wolves sit in fifth place in the GNAC standings heading into the final four games of the season - two games behind Central Washington for the final spot into the GNAC Championships. The Wildcats hold the tiebreaker over the Wolves in the chance of a tie. WOU and CWU split their GNAC series this season (non-GNAC games are not factored into the tiebreaker, so WOU's win over CWU prior to GNAC play isn't factored in). The next tiebreaker is record against the top team in the standings and since NNU would be conference champs in this scenario - CWU went 1-3 against the Nighthawks while WOU went 0-4.
- Therefore to make the GNAC Championships, WOU needs:
- Go 3-1 against WWU and CWU go 0-4 at home against Simon Fraser, or
- Go 4-0 against WWU and CWU go 1-3 against Simon Fraser
- With 10 strikeouts last weekend, Mackenzee Collins moved her total to 150 on the season - sixth on the WOU all-time list and four behind the No. 5 spot held by Chelsea Smith set last season. She's also second in the GNAC season in strikeouts along with ranking fifth in ERA (1.97), fourth in opposing batting average (.208) and third in innings pitched (138.2). Collins leads the conference in strikeouts per seven innings (7.57) and innings per game (5.78).
- Senior Natalie Willoughby sits sixth on the WOU all-time home run list 20. Her six homers this season leads the team as does her 23 RBI, .609 slugging percentage and .943 OPS.
- Senior Bella Valdes ranks in the top five in the GNAC this season in stolen bases (14 - 4th) and walks (21 - 2nd) to go along with a .275 average with 26 runs (tied for the team lead), .383 on-base percentage, eight RBI and four doubles.
WWU TEAM STATS (GNAC Ranking: Out of 7 Teams):
- RUNS PER GAME:Â 5.29 (1st)
- AVG: .296 (1st)
- ERA: 1.88Â (2nd)
- FLD %: .971Â (1st)
WESTERN WASHINGTONÂ NOTES
- WWU is coming off a 2-2 weekend at home against Central Washington - winning the second and third game of the series (8-0 and 2-1) and dropping the first and fourth game (3-2 and 2-1).
- The Vikings enter the series first in runs per game, batting averaging and fielding and second in ERA (and 14th in D-II).
- At the plate, Hailey Rath leads the GNAC in hitting at .394 while Maleah Andrews (.353) and Ashley Jacobson (.347) also rank in the top 10.
- Emma Andrewjeski is second in the GNAC in homers (13) while she leads the conference in RBI (39).
- In the circle, the Vikings have been led by the trio of Kaiana Kong (1.42 ERA, 12-1 record, 52 SO, 78.2 IP), Alli Kimball (1.46 ERA, 13-2, 55 SO, 95.2 IP) and Joie Baker (2.24 ERA, 11-2, 103 SO, 118.2 IP) as all three rank in the top eight in the conference in ERA, opposing batting average, strikeouts and wins.
