WOU announces 2024 Hall of Fame Class: Key, Reed, 1975 softball team

MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon Athletics 2024 Hall of Fame class will be Robert Key, Chris Reed and the 1975 softball team the Wolves athletic department announced Thursday.

Key, Reed and the 1975 softball team will be inducted during the Hall of Fame Induction and Alumni Awards Ceremony on Oct. 25 at 5:30 p.m.

1975 Softball Team
The Wolves 1975 softball team qualified with 17 other talented teams for the Women's College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. The OCE team beat Texas Woman's (6-2), Ball State (14-9) and Weber State (8-7) before losing to Northern Colorado (1-0) and eventual champion Nebraska-Omaha (1-0). The Wolves tied for seventh place in the nation with Arizona. The Wolves were led by coach Carol Brownlow.

Robert Key, 1986-88
Key was instrumental in turning the Wolves men's basketball program around during the mid-1980s. He led the Wolves to 39 wins over two seasons, leading the team in scoring in 1988 and ranks in the WOU all-time top five in 3-point percentage (46.9) and free throw percentage (82.9). Key also played two seasons of baseball while at Western under legendary coach Joe Caligure. Key is currently the head yoys' basketball coach at West Linn High School.

Chris Reed, 2008-11
Reed qualified for the NCAA cross country and track & field championship five times and was named an All-American twice. He was named the 2011 USTFCCCA West Region Men's Indoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Year and finished his career as the owner of five school records. He still holds WOU records in the 5,000 (14:21.14) and the 10,000 (29:44.77). Reed currently is the head men's and women's cross country and track & field coach at Lewis & Clark University.
