MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon men's cross country team took eighth and the women's team finished 17th at the NCAA Cross Country West Region Championships on Saturday at Ash Creek Preserve.
The WOU men were led by a pair of all-region performances from
Matthew Resnik - who finished 21st by finishing the 10K race in 30 minutes, 26.41 seconds - and
Remedan Seman, who finished 24th with a time of 30:28.52.
Ethan Bothwell also finished in the top 30 for WOU in 29th (30:41.66) while
Samuel Fuentes (55th, 31:25.49) and
Isaiah Rodriguez (94th, 32:34.57) rounded out WOU's scoring.
Chico State's Damian Garcia won the individual title at 29:26.33 while helping his team finish first in the region. Western Washington and Cal Poly Pomona picked up the other two automatic bids.
On the women's side, WOU was led by the all-region performance from
Kyla Potratz who took 25th with a time of 21:16.02 in the 6K race. Also scoring for the Wolves was
Adele Beckstead (79th, 22:06.08),
Jazmine Liebl (98th, 22:27.91),
Nettle Grey (121st, 22:50.89) and
Charlotte Gardner (158th, 23:38.81).
Biola's Bethany Mapes won the individual title with a time of 20:29.31 while Chico State won the team title with Cal Poly Pomona and Westesrn Washington earning the automatic bids.
