Wolves football picked fifth in LSC Football Preseason Poll

MCKINNEY, Texas --- The Western Oregon football team was picked to finish fifth in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll when the conference released it at LSC Football Media Day on Thursday at the McKinney ISD Stadium's Community Event Center.

The Wolves, who finished tied for third last year in the conference at 6-3 and went 6-5 overall, totaled 173 points in the 30-person poll made up of coaches, communication departments and the media.

Defending LSC champion Angelo State was picked to finish first and received 23 first-place votes followed by Central Washington (four first-place votes), UT Permian Basin (two first-place votes) and Texas A&M Kingsville (one first place vote). After Oregon in fifth was West Texas A&M, Midwestern State, Eastern New Mexico, Western New Mexico and Sul Ross State.

The Wolves open the season September 6 at home against Southern Oregon before taking on D-I Cal Poly on the road the following weekend and opening the LSC schedule the following week at home against Sul Ross State.
