WOU men take fourth, women sixth at Mike Johnson Classic

MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon men's cross country team took fourth and the women took sixth at the Mike Johnson Classic on Saturday at Ash Creek Preserve.

The men finished behind No. 7 Chico State (34), Northwest Nazarene (40) and Alaska Anchorage (75) in the 13-team event.

Matthew Resnik led the Wolves in the 8K race with a time of 24 minutes, 19 seconds to finish in 10th. Remedan Seman took 16th (24:31), Zander Campbell finished 17th (24:35.10), Ethan Bothwell took 20th (24:36.8) and WOU's final point scorer was Samuel Fuentes as he took 53rd.

Brody Kemble of Northwest Nazarene won the race with a time of 23:40.30 as the Nighthawks took the top three spots.

On the women's side, the Wolves finished behind Chico State, Alaska Anchorage, Portland, Northwest Nazarene and Portland State.

Kyla Potratz led the women with a ninth-place finish in the 6K race with a time of 21:24.80. Adele Beckstead took 29th (21:56.4), Nettle Grey finished 35th (22:05), Maslin Sigler took 41st (22:17.60) and Jazmine Liebl rounded out the scoring for WOU by taking 43rd (22:31.20).

The Wolves next compete at Dallas Baptist on Oct. 11.
