Western Oregon goalkeeper
Austin Valdez set a Wolves school record with 14 saves on Saturday, helping to lead his team to a huge conference win over Western Washington on Saturday, 3-2.
Valdez's work also led to today's announcement that the senior keeper from Seattle is the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Valdez's save total is the highest in the GNAC in nearly 10 years, and his work was greatly appreciated by his coach,
Andrew May.
"This was a tremendous performance from Austin, and he has been solid all year," May said. "He was crucial again and continues to be key for us."
This is Valdez's second Defensive Player of the Week honor in his career, and first this season.
