MONMOUTH, Ore. - Six members of the Western Oregon women's track & field team have been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region team. Each member of the team earned their all-region selection after finishing in the top five in the region in their individual event.
Annan Applebee,
Madison McClung,
Janelle Everetts and
Amanda Wright represented Western Oregon in the running events, and
Katie Pelchar and
Ashley Potter in the field events.
Applebee, a senior Gladstone, Ore. (Gladstone High School), was the top performer in the West Region in the 800m with a time of 2:12.55. She registered that time at the Seattle Pacific Last Chance meet to earn an NCAA provisional standard and a trip to Nationals.
Pelchar finished second in the region in the high jump in her first season with the Wolves. The freshman from Sandy, Ore. (Sandy High School), cleared 5-5.25 (1.66m) in the high jump to earn the all-region award.
Ashley Potter posted the fourth longest leap of the season in the women's triple jump with a mark of 38-3.25 (11.66m). That jump earned the junior from Eugene, Ore. (Thurston High School) an NCAA provisional qualifying standard.
Amanda Wright, a junior from Olympia, Wash. (Capital High School), also holds the fourth place spot in the region. She posted a school record time of 18:12.80 in the 5,000 meter run.
Janelle Everetts joined Applebee on the All-Region list in the 800m. The junior from McKay High School (Salem, Ore.) recorded the fifth fasted time in the West this season to earn an NCAA provisional standard and all-region honors.
The men's USTFCCCA All-West Region team will be released later in the week.
