MONMOUTH, Ore.
- Seventeen members of the Western Oregon men's track & field team have been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region team. Each member of the team earned their all-region selection after finishing in the top five in the region in their individual event.

Six of the 17 Wolves on the team qualified for the all-region honors after placing in the top five in at least two events. Matt Kaino was one of just five individuals in the country to earn all-region honors in four events. The sophomore from Ilwaco, Wash. (Ilwaco High School) runs the 400m leg of the Wolves' No. 1 regionally ranked distance medley relay team. He is also a member of the second ranked 4x400m relay team, in addition to ranking second in the 400m and fifth in the 200m.

Joining Kaino with multiple all-region selections include Kyle Larson, Chris Reed, Anthony Yakovich, Jason Slowey and Josh Moore. Larson and Reed each grabbed all-region honors in the same three events. Both are members of the top ranked distance medley relay team, but they also rank one-two in the mile (Reed first), and first and third in the 800m (Larson first).

Josh Moore has also capitalized as being a member of the 4x400m relay. He earned all-regional recognition in the event to go along with his time of 6.97 in the 60m dash, which ranked him fifth in the West. Anthony Yakovich, who is also a member of the 4x400m relay team, added an all-region honor in the 400m after recording the fifth fastest time in the West this indoor season.

Jason Slowey was one of just four members of the Western Oregon squad to earn all-region honors in a field event. He led the region in the shot put with a toss of 52-8 and placed fourth in the weight throw.

Other Wolves earn all-region honors include Dustin Boyd (200m), Eric Gaines (4x400m), Jake Hyde (long jump), Connor Kasler (DMR), Kyle Lane (long jump), Andy Loscutoff (heptathlon), Zach Massari (800m), Matt Schryvers (weight throw), Michael Shogren (mile), Brandon Snook (5000m) and Jordan Werner (60m hurdles).

Western Oregon had the second-most combined all-region honors of any school at the Division II level. Only Southern Connecticut's 30 selections trumped Western Oregon's 27.

The men's distance medley relay team is preparing to represent Western Oregon University, Mar. 11-12, at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. The men will run their race on Friday (Mar. 11) at 7:45 p.m. (MST).
