MONMOUTH, Ore. - Chris Reed of the Western Oregon University men's track & field team has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Male Athlete of the Week for the week of Apr. 4-10.

Reed, a senior from Klamath Falls, Ore. (Klamath Union), won the men's 1500 meters at the John Knight Twilight at Monmouth Friday in an NCAA provisional national qualifying time of 3:50.47, moving into seventh place on the GNAC all-time Top 10 list in that event. It lifted him from seventh to third place in Western Oregon history.

Reed and a number of Western Oregon student-athletes will be in southern California to compete in the Mt. SAC Relays, the Azusa Pacific meet or the Long Beach State Invite. Other members of the team will also be in Portland this weekend (Apr. 15-16) to compete in the Lewis & Clark Invitational.
