The Western Oregon University track & field team completed a strong weekend of competition with Kaitlyn Reid and Jason Slowey highlighting the Wolves' performances as each earned an NCAA provisional qualifying standard.

Mt. SAC Relays
Kaitlyn Reid completed the 400m hurdles in 1:02.53 at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., to become the seventh member of the Western Oregon team to earn an NCAA provisional standard. That time moves her into third place on the Wolves' all-time top 10 list and into sixth place in Great Northwest Athletic Conference history. Reid now stands second on the 2011 GNAC performance list and 22nd in Division II.

Chris Reed ran a 29:44.77 in the men's 10k, Thursday (Apr. 14), at the Mt. SAC Relays to earn his third NCAA provisional qualifying standard of the 2011 outdoor season. His time moved him third in the country this season and second in GNAC history. It also improved his school record by 7.62 seconds. Reed placed sixth in the men's 10k field.

Erika Snawder secured her sixth place mark in WOU history in the 1500m with a time of 4:39.59. It was a .27 second improvement over her career-best mark which Snawder set last season.

Kyle Larson moved into eighth place in the school record books in the 1500m run with a career-best time of 3:53.49.

Connor Kasler just missed a chance to improve his seventh place mark in school history in the 800m, as he posted a time of 1:53.53, just .02 seconds off his personal-best time.

Bryan Clay Invitational
Jason Slowey posted the Wolves longest throw of a shot put in 15 years Friday at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif. His career-best toss of 55-2 (16.81m) vaulted him to third place in Western Oregon history and second in the GNAC record books. He now leads the conference with that mark and stands 14th in the NCAA.

Ashley Potter registered a strong performance in the women's triple jump with season-best mark of 39-4 (11.99m). Potter's leap earned her second place at the meet and gave her an 11 inch lead on the 2011 GNAC performance list.

Jake Hyde placed sixth out of 25 competitors in the men's long jump with a season-best mark of 22-7.75 (6.90m). Other Wolves registering season-best performances were Lacey Meusec in the 100m (12.54), Andy Loscutoff in the 400m hurdles (55.27), Anthony Yakovich in the 400m dash (49.20), and Dustin Boyd (22.15) and Matt Kaino (22.15) in the 200m.

Beach Invitational

The Western Oregon women's sprinters stole the show at the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Calif. Lexi Pola and Janelle Everetts moved to third and fourth, respectively, on the Wolves' all-time top 10 list in the 400m dash, while Madison McClung moved into sixth in the women's 100m.

Pola moved up from fifth to third in school history as she registered a time of 56.99 during her one lap sprint. That time also places her second on the 2011 GNAC performance list and eighth in conference history. Janelle Everetts' time of 57.76 earned her fourth place on the school's all-time list.

McClung placed her name sixth in the record books in the 100m dash with a time of 12.21. That time also moves her into second on the 2011 GNAC performance list, and to seventh in conference history.

Ryan Chapman's name now stands amongst Western Oregon legends as he posted a time of 9:26.06 in the men's 3000m steeplechase to move into 10th in school history.

Lewis & Clark Invitational
Tim Lundy's pole vault performance at the Lewis & Clark Invite moved him into second on the 2011 GNAC performance list. He cleared 15-1 (4.60m) to equal top mark at the meet but was awarded second place based on attempts.

This week

The Western Oregon team will return its home state to compete in the Oregon Relays in Eugene Apr. 22-23.
