[Decathlon results] [Heptathlon results]
NAMPA, Idaho - The Western Oregon men's track & field team will start off with 10 points in the bank next week when the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships come to Monmouth, thanks to the performances of its three decathletes,
Andy Loscutoff,
Eric Gaines and
Jake Hyde.
Andy Loscutoff, a senior from Canby, Ore. (Canby High School), paced the Wolves' squad by finishing fourth in points with 6,224 to earn five team points. Loscutoff won the men's 110m hurdles, placed second in the shot put and third in both the 400m dash and the 1500m. Last season, Loscutoff took home third place in the decathlon.
Eric Gaines, a freshman who hails from Sandy, Ore. (Sandy High School), collected four more team points for Western Oregon after placing fifth with 5,892 points. Gaines was the was the individual winner in the 400m dash, while placing second in the high jump and third in the long jump.
Jake Hyde, a sophomore from Estacada, Ore. (Estacada High School), earned the final available point at the meet by finishing eighth with 5,661 points. Hyde won the 100m dash, the long jump and the shot put. This meant Western Oregon student-athletes won half of the events in the decathlon.
Ali Mosher represented the Wolves in the women's heptathlon and took home 10th place. Her best finish came in the 800m run where she placed fourth.
The rest of the GNAC Championships will be held in Monmouth on May 13-14.
