WILLAMETTE OPENER RESULTS


The Western Oregon University women's and men's track and field teams were spread across two states in three different meets Saturday; the SPU Last Chance Indoor, the Erik Anderson Icebreaker, and the Willamette Opener. The Wolves had several positive results at each of the meets.

At the Seattle Pacific University Final Qualifier, the WOU men's distance medley relay team of Josh Hanna, Kody Rhodes, Ryan Hansen, and Brady Beagley, ran a NCAA Div. II Indoor National Championship provisional qualifying time of 10:05.97 after the conversion. Beagley's mile time of 4:07 was a lifetime best. As a team, the WOU men led the field in total points with 50.

In the first outdoor meets of the season, Seabre Church and Shane Brooks both hit Outdoor National Championship provisional marks in the javelin. Competing in the Willamette Opener, Church's last throw of 140-9 (42.91 meters) won the event. Brooks also won on the men's side, hitting 194-7 (59.31m) on his final attempt.

Emmi Collier won the women's shot put at the Willamette Opener. The sophomore hit 41-11.25 (12.78m) on her second throw.

In the men's 800 meters, Chris Stash took first with a time of 1:56.81. In his collegiate debut, Dustin Camarillo won the 110-meter hurdles at 16.3. Rochelle Pappel won the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.0.

The Wolves are competing in the Oregon State University Invitational outdoor meet next Saturday. The meet begins with field events at 12 p.m. and track events at 2 p.m.
