FINAL RESULTSCORVALLIS, Ore. – In its next-to-last meet before next week 's Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Western Oregon University's track & field teams set several personal records at the OSU High Performance Meet held Friday at the Whyte Track & Field Complex.
Competition began Thursday with the men's and women's hammer throw held at WOU's hammer cage, as senior
Emily Wetherell set a personal record with a mark of 45.72 meters (150-0.25) en route to finishing 11th overall.
Kicking off competition on Friday, junior
Justin Larson posted a third place finish in the javelin with a toss of 61.06 meters (200-4.25).
Next up, sophomore
Aaron Whitaker won Section #2 of the 400 meter dash with a season-best time of 49.21 seconds en route to finishing eighth overall.
Sophomore
Jeremy Moore would also post a season best in the shot put with a mark of 14.88 meters (48-10) to finish 11th overall in the event.
In the men's 100 meter dash, freshman
Cody Warner finished second overall with a time of 10.68 seconds and crossed the finish line behind only NCAA Division I runner Jeremy VanAssche of Eastern Washington.
Senior
Laura Knudson would set a personal best in the women's 100 meter dash with a time of 12.50 seconds, as she broke the 13-second barrier for the first time in her career en route to finishing 10th overall.
In the final field event of the night, Moore posted a personal record in the men's discus with a throw of 45.89 meters (150-7) to finish ninth overall.
Western Oregon will return to competition tomorrow – Saturday, May 2 – at the Mt. Hood Track Festival beginning at 10 AM in Gresham, Oregon.
