FULL WILLAMETTE INVITATIONAL RESULTSÂ
SALEM, Ore. – In its fifth outdoor meet of the season, the Western Oregon University Track & Field team returned to Charles Bowles Track for the 2016 Willamette Outdoor Invitational. Multiple personal records were set while WOU took five event victories.

On the women's side,
Suzanne Van De Grift placed first overall out of 17 runners in the 800m, producing a time of 2:13.04 which earned the sophomore a NCAA Nationals provisional qualifier.
Stephanie Stuckey finished third in the same event with a time of 2:13.53.

The women's hammer event saw senior
Emily Wetherell win the 24-person competition in her third attempt with a throw of 162-11 (49.65m). She beat out two Oregon State throwers who finished second and third.

In her first outdoor event, sophomore
Sheila Limas De La Cruz notched a NCAA provisional mark in the javelin in her last round. She posted a mark of 135-1 ½ (41.18m), besting her previous round effort by nearly four meters.

In the 200m,
Megan Rose came in second in 58 seconds even and
Olivia Woods was fourth (58.19).

Western Oregon's relay teams also had solid event. The 4x400 team of
Laura Patrick,
Bailey Beeson, Van De Grift and Rose had the best time of NCAA Division II teams, finishing in second by less than a second to OSU. The 4x100 relay crew came in third.

The sprinters on the men's side had a pair of victories.
Cody Warner bested 18 competitors in the 200m with a time of 21.55 after he finished second in the 100m.
Aaron Whitaker continued his strong running in the 400m after winning the event in a time of 49.08.

David Cornish won his section of the 1500m race in a time of 4:00.85.
David Ribich came in second in a tough 30-person 800m race at 1:52.65. He was followed by
Josh Dempsey in third and
Josh Hanna in fifth.

In the field events,
Jeremy Moore became the first WOU thrower since 2011 to throw over 50 feet in the shot put with his fifth-place effort of 51-0 ½. Moore also placed third in the hammer and fifth in discus.

Kaleb Dobson took second in the 110m hurdles and third in the 400m hurdles.
Â
The men's 4x400m relay team (Hanna, Depmsey,
Sam Naffziger, Ribich) ran second in a time of 3:24.77.

WOU continues its outdoor season in the Bay Area next weekend with the San Francisco State Distance Carnival and the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto on April 1-2.
