Stallard, Wilson lead Wolves after first day of GNAC Multi-Event Championships

NAMPA, Idaho—
After the first day of competition, Jackson Stallard and Darian Wilson lead the Western Oregon track & field teams while competing at the GNAC Multi-Event Championships on Monday.

Through four events of the women's heptathlon, Wilson is in 10th place overall with 2,528 total points. Stallard, meanwhile, edged teammate Mitchell Kruse, 3,085 to 2,905 points, after five events of the men's decathlon.

In 13th place at the midway point of the day, Wilson jumped three places over the final two events. Wilson opened the day with her strongest event by tallying 767 points in the 100-meter hurdles. She went on to gain spots in the rankings after recording a 31-10 1/4 [9.71m] in the shot put and a 27.33 in the 200 to end the day.

Stallard's highest first-day score came in the 100-meter dash with an 11.66 for 719 points. Kruse, meanwhile, had his highest total in the long jump after clearing 20-7 3/4 (6.29m) for 650 points.

Competition will conclude on Tuesday with points awarded to the top eight finishers in each event. Western Oregon will host the remaining events of the GNAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 11-12 at McArthur Field.
