Pruitt Named AFCA All-American

WACO, Texas – Following another stellar season along the offensive line, senior Jakob Pruitt was named to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Second Team All-America list on Wednesday.

"Jakob has been a model of consistency throughout his time at Western Oregon. Each year he has played a big role in the success of this team and his ability to play effectively anywhere along the line has been impressive," head coach Arne Ferguson said. "Jakob has been a leader on this team and always puts the work in to improve each season. This award is very deserving for him and we're proud of the career he put together here at WOU."

Pruitt was the only representative on the list from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and is the second straight year in which the Wolves have had a player named to the AFCA Team. During the 2019 season, Joseph Gonzalez was also named a Second Team All-American.

Just this season alone, Pruitt was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) First Team Academic All-District Team, GNAC Academic Team and was tabbed to the All-GNAC First Team.

Pruitt has been a stalwart along the offensive line over the past several years for the Wolves, starting in nine games this season at tackle and also spending time at center. Throughout the 2019 season, Pruitt started every game at center. He helped lead the Wolves to 224 points and 3,510 total yards of offense this season, with 1,994 coming through the air. WOU recorded 31 total touchdowns on offense, with 18 coming on the ground.
