MCKINNEY, Texas --- The Western Oregon football team was picked second in the Lone Star Conference and quarterback
Jordan McCarty was selected the LSC Preseason Offensive Player of the year during Thursday LSC Football Media Day.

The Wolves, the LSC runner-up last season after going 7-2 (8-3 overall), picked up nine first-place votes and finished behind Central Washington in the poll. The rest of the top five is West Texas A&M, Angelo State and UT Permian.

McCarty was voted the LSC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year after throwing for 1,521 yards and running for another 507 (averaging 184.4 yards of total offense per game). He accounted for 18 touchdowns (12 passing, six rushing). The senior from Silverton, Oregon, enters his fourth season at WOU and has 32 games under his belt as a Wolf.

The Wolves open the season Aug. 29 at Colorado School of Mines.
