MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Oregon University men's and women's track and field teams will get to enjoy the chance to compete at home once again over the next two meets as the Wolves host tri-meets both this Saturday and this coming Tuesday.
For Saturday's meet, WOU will be joined by Oregon State and Humboldt State and then on Tuesday, Humboldt State will compete again along with Pacific (OR).
On the men's side, Talon Aguilar will compete in his first meet with the Wolves after he spent his prep career at Tahoma High in Maple Valley, Wash. On Saturday, he will enter in the 1,500 and on Tuesday in the 800-meter.
Adam Alnazer will compete in his second and third meets of the outdoor season after opening up at the PNW Team Clash posting a time of 4:02.74 in the 1,500 to place fourth. He will again run in the 1,500 on both days and will run the 800 on Saturday. Alnazer placed fourth in the 800 during the GNAC Indoor Championships.
Gabe Arce-Torres will make his debut running in the 4x400 on Saturday. He will also run a leg of the 4x400 on Tuesday, in addition to the 800-meter. Arce-Torres was part of the 4x400 that placed second at the GNAC Indoor Championships last year and he also finished seventh in the 400. He was also part of the distance medley relay team that qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships last year.
Carson Austin will compete for the first time this year after seeing time in a couple of meets last year. He will run in the 800-meter on Tuesday. During last year's meets, Austin saw time in the only outdoor meet at Willamette placing fifth in the 800. He also ran the 800 twice in the indoor season.
Sam Cole will enter in the shot put and hammer on Saturday and the hammer as well on Tuesday. Cole opened the outdoor season last week at the PNW Team Clash throwing in both the shot put (placing fourth) and hammer (placing second).
Karsten Collins began his outdoor season this past weekend in the PNW Team Clash throwing both the discus (placing second) and the hammer (placing third), setting a new personal-best in the hammer with a mark of 145-2. Collins will throw the discus and hammer on Saturday and then the shot put and discus on Tuesday.
Owen Collins opened the outdoor season last weekend at the PNW Team Clash throwing both the shot put (placing second) and the hammer (placing fifth). He will throw the shot put and hammer on Saturday, followed by the shot put and discus on Tuesday.
Justin Crosswhite came out of the gates placing first in the 1,500 this past weekend at the PNW Team Clash. He will run the 800-meter on Saturday and both the 1,500 and the 4x400 on Tuesday.
Keanu Daos began his WOU career this past weekend at the PNW Team Clash when he placed third in the 5,000. He will run the 1,500 on Saturday and both the 1,500 and 800-meter on Tuesday.
Cedar Davis-Frankfort is set to open his WOU and collegiate career competing in the 1,500 on Saturday and the 5,000 on Tuesday. He spent his prep career at Grants Pass High School competing in the distance events.
Jalon Fields is coming off of a great triple jump at the PNW Team Clash where he placed second with a mark of 47-3. He will enter in the long jump on Saturday, along with both the long jump and triple jump on Tuesday.
Jacob Flury will open the outdoor season this week after seeing time in a couple of meets last year. Flury will compete in the long jump on Saturday and both the long jump and triple jump on Tuesday. During last year's meets, Flury competed in the long and triple jump during the Willamette outdoor meet and in the triple jump in one indoor meet.
Dominic Giordano will compete in the 1,500 on Saturday and the 800-meter on Tuesday. He opened the season last week at the PNW Team Clash in the steeplechase. So far over the past year Giordano has entered in the 3,000 (three times) and 3,000 steeplechase (twice).
Austin Goldstein began the outdoor year this past weekend throwing the javelin and winning the event with a mark of 183-6 at the PNW Team Clash. He will throw the javelin both Saturday and Tuesday.
Aaron Hanible put together a strong start to the outdoor season running to a new personal-best in winning the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.00 and placing fifth in the 110-meter hurdles. Hanible was also part of the 4x400 relay. He will enter in the 200-meter, 110-meter hurdles and the 4x400 relay on Saturday, while entering in the 400-meter hurdles and 4x100 relay on Tuesday.
Marley Harrison started his WOU career this past weekend competing in the long jump and triple jump placing third in both at the PNW Team Clash. He will enter in the long jump on Saturday and then both the long jump and triple jump on Tuesday.
Emmett Klus competed in the 800-meter this past weekend collecting a new personal-best time of 1:56.84 to win the event. Klus was also part of the 4x400 relay. He will enter in the 800-meter and 4x400 relay on Saturday, then in the 1,500 and 4x400 relay on Tuesday.
Curt Knott will open the outdoor season this week competing in the 800-meter on Saturday and both the 800-meter and 4x400 relay on Tuesday. Knott ran the 800 and the 4x400 at the GNAC Indoor Championships last year placing fourth in the 800 and was part of the 4x400 that came in third.
Dominique Loggins will start the new season this week coming off of his first-place finish in the 60-meter during the GNAC Indoor Championships. He will enter in the 100-meter on Saturday and both the 200-meter and 4x100 relay on Tuesday.
Dustyn McKenney opens the outdoor season this week in the 1,500 on Saturday and then the 800-meter and 1,500 on Tuesday. He saw time in the only outdoor meet in 2020 running in the 800-meter at Willamette.
Bryce Mefford will start the new season this week entering in the 800-meter on Saturday and then the 800-meter and 1,500 on Tuesday. He competed in the only outdoor meet last year at Willamette running in the 800 and placing second.
Eli Nafziger was part of the 4x400 relay team this past weekend at the PNW Team Clash and will enter in the high jump and long jump on Saturday. He will also compete in the 200-meter, javelin and 4x100 relay on Tuesday.
Tim Rambo began his outdoor season last week running in the 800-meter and coming in fourth at the PNW Team Clash. Rambo was also part of the 4x400 relay. This week he will enter in the 800-meter and 4x400 relay on Saturday, along with the 1,500 and 4x400 relay on Tuesday.
Trey Reed started the new season last week in the PNW Team Clash running in the 800-meter. He also ran in the 800-meter in the only outdoor meet last year at Willamette. This week he will compete in the 800-meter and 4x400 relay on Saturday and then the 800-meter on Tuesday.
Antonio Robledo is set to begin his outdoor season this week entering in the high jump and long jump on Saturday. He competed in the only outdoor meet last year at Willamette coming in third in the triple jump.
Matthew Schenk will enter in the 800-meter on Tuesday. This will be his debut for the Wolves after spending his prep career at Crater High School in Central Point Ore., competing in middle distances.
Bailey Smith is set to open the outdoor season this week entering in the 1,500 both Saturday and Sunday. Smith will debut this week for the Wolves after arriving from Trinidad State JC competing in both cross country and track.
Wyatt Smith will enter in the 4x400 relay on Tuesday. This will be his debut for the Wolves after spending his prep career at Oakland High School in Oakland, Ore., competing in distance.
Deshaun Stevens is back at it this week after competing in the WOU Multi when he placed third in the decathlon with 4,889 points. He will enter in the 110-meter hurdles, long jump and 4x400 relay on Saturday and then the pole vault, javelin and 4x400 relay on Tuesday.
Jake Thompson is also back after it following his fifth-place finish in the decathlon during the WOU Multis collecting 4,516 points. He will enter in the 110-meter hurdles, long jump and 4x400 relay on Saturday and then in the pole vault, javelin and 4x400 relay on Tuesday.
Miguel Villar will make his WOU debut on Tuesday in the 1,500. Villar arrived at WOU after transferring from Adams State competing in both cross country and track.
JJ Walker returns following his NCAA Division II Provisional Mark in the decathlon during the WOU Multis with 6,432 points. He will enter in the 400-meter, javelin and 4x400 relay on Saturday and then the 110-meter hurdles and the pole vault on Tuesday.
On the women's side, Bethanie Altamirano will begin her outdoor season this week competing in the 4x400 relay both Saturday and Sunday. She entered in the only outdoor meet last year at Willamette coming in first in both the 200-meter and 400-meter.
Krystal Andres opened her WOU career this past weekend at the PNW Team Clash throwing in the javelin. This week she will throw in the discus and javelin on Saturday, along with the javelin on Tuesday.
Lauren Berry begins her outdoor season this week entering in the 100-meter and long jump on Saturday, along with the long jump and triple jump on Tuesday. During last year's only outdoor meet at Willamette, Berry competed in the 100-meter and won the long jump.
Rilee Carstensen began her WOU career last weekend at the PNW Team Clash running in the 4x400 that placed fourth. She will enter in the 100-meter hurdles and 4x400 relay on Saturday, along with the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles on Tuesday.
Amity Deters returns after competing in the WOU Multis where she competed in the heptathlon tallying 3,312 in her first collegiate event. This week she will enter in the high jump, long jump and the 4x400 relay on Saturday, then in the 100-meter hurdles and javelin on Tuesday.
Moana Gianotti began the outdoor season this past weekend throwing the shot put, discus and hammer at the PNW Team Clash. This week she will throw in the discus and hammer on Saturday and then in the shot put and discus on Tuesday.
Ashley Hauger began her WOU career this past weekend running in the 1,500 at the PNW Team Clash and also ran in the 4x400 relay. She will enter in the 1,500 on Saturday and then in the 800-meter and the 4x400 relay on Tuesday.
Caitlin Heldt opened her WOU career this past weekend running in the 1,500 coming in sixth at the PNW Team Clash. She will enter in the 1,500 both Saturday and Tuesday.
Maya Hopwood started her outdoor season strong coming in second in the 100-meter with a time of 12.28 at the PNW Team Clash. This week she will compete in the 100-meter on Saturday and both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay on Tuesday.
Jenelle Hurley started the season at the WOU Multis coming in sixth in sixth in the pentathlon with 4,045 points. She finished in the top-four in three of the seven events. This week Hurley will compete in the 100-meter hurdles, long jump and the 4x400 relay on Saturday, then on Tuesday in the high jump, shot put, javelin and the 4x400 relay.
Logan Jackson will compete in the 100-meter hurdles, long jump and 3x400 relay on Saturday and then on Tuesday in the high jump, javelin, 4x100 and 4x400 relays. She opened the outdoor season competing in the pentathlon during the WOU Multis.
Madeline Lambing will begin her WOU career this weekend competing in the 100-meter hurdles and 4x400 relay on Saturday and then in the high jump and javelin on Tuesday. She recently completed her prep career at Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, Ore., competing in the multi-events.
Lindie Larson is set to open her WOU career this weekend competing in the 1,500 on both Saturday and Tuesday. Larson recently completed her prep career at Shasta High School in Redding, Calif., specializing in long distance.
Kaiya Leamy started her WOU career this past weekend in the PNW Team Clash racing in the 1,500. This week she will again race in the 1,500 both Saturday and Tuesday.
Liliana Lyness started her WOU career this past weekend at the PNW Team Clash throwing the hammer. This week she will throw both the hammer and the shot put on Saturday and Tuesday.
Tresai McCarver, who also competes for the WOU women's basketball team, will start her WOU track career this weekend competing in the 1,500 on Saturday. Then on Tuesday, McCarver will run the 800-meter and the 4x400 relay.
Lyndee McLauchlin competed in last weekend's PNW Team Clash throwing the javelin. This week she will throw the javelin on Saturday and then on Tuesday compete in the long jump, hammer and javelin.
Ellie Osborn begins her WOU career this weekend competing in the discus and hammer on Saturday. On Tuesday, she will throw both the shot put and discus. Osborn recently finished up a prep career at Dallas High School in Dallas, Ore., competing in the throws.
Ana Popchock will enter in the 100-meter hurdles, long jump and 4x400 relay on Saturday and then the high jump, javelin and 4x100 relay on Tuesday. She began the outdoor season at the WOU Multis competing in the heptathlon for the first time and collected 3,940 points to come in seventh.
Makenzie Smith also opened the outdoor season competing in the heptathlon at the WOU Multis. This week she will enter in the 100-meter hurdles, javelin and 4x400 relay on Saturday. On Tuesday she will compete in the long jump and shot put.
Shannon Smith will begin her WOU career this weekend entering in the 1,500 both Saturday and Tuesday. Smith recently completed her prep career at Bandon High School in Bandon, Ore., competing in both the sprints and distances.
Maliyah Thompson will begin her WOU career this weekend competing in the 100-meter hurdles and the 4x400 relay on Saturday. On Tuesday she will enter in the 200-meter and the 4x100 relay. She recently completed her prep career at North Salem High School in Salem, Ore., competing in the sprints and hurdles.
Kaylee Wright is coming off of an NCAA Division II Provisional Mark in the javelin this past weekend at the PNW Team Clash when she hit a distance of 141-11. This week she will throw the javelin on Saturday and then on Tuesday both the hammer and the javelin.
Michaela Yonkman opened the outdoor season last week at the PNW Team Clash coming in second in the 400-meter hurdles and was part of the 4x400 relay team. This week she will compete in the 200-meter and 100-meter hurdles on Saturday and then on Tuesday in the 400-meter hurdles and the 4x400 relay.
In order to ensure the health and safety of the student-athletes, coaches, officials and staff, and to provide the best opportunity to complete the spring seasons, spectators will not be allowed for regular-season home events at GNAC institutions for the remainder of the 2020-21 academic year. Additionally, spectators will not be allowed at the GNAC's spring championships. Live video and stats will be available for the games.
