Track And Field Set For UW Preview This Saturday

SEATTLE, Wash. – Having last competed during the Spokane Invitational in the middle of December, the Western Oregon University men's and women's track and field teams will be back in action this Saturday in Seattle at the University of Washington Preview.

WOU will travel 34 student-athletes to Seattle to start off 2022 just like they did during the 2019-20 season competing in the UW Opener on Jan. 18, 2020.

Bethanie Altamirano, Emillia Carpenter, Katie Chapman, Macy Clemens, Amity Deters, Moana Gianotti, Jessy Hart, Caitlin Heldt, Maya Hopwood, Jenelle Hurley, Madeline Lambing, Lindie Larson, Liliana Lyness-Morales, Kalulusno Ngaida, Ana Popchock, Maliyah Thompson, Gabe Arce-Torres, Gabriel Burchfield, Sam Cole, Owen Collins, Justin Conklin, Keanu Daos, Marlon Harrison, Devin Hasher, Hunter Hutton, Dustyn McKenney, Timothy Rambo, Keeton Sanchez, Bailey Smith, Brennen Sorah, Deshaun Stevens, Caleb Southworth, JJ Walker and Mark Warren.

Altamirano will open the new indoor track season this weekend after seeing time in the 200 and 400 throughout the outdoor season in 2021.

Carpenter will throw in her second meet this indoor season after competing in the weight throw during the Spokane Invitational.

Chapman also opened the indoor season in Spokane running in the 800 and the 4x400. She finished seventh in both events.

Clemens will be back in the jumps this weekend after competing in Spokane where she entered in the high jump and long jump.

Deters entered in three events during the Spokane Invitational competing in the 60 hurdles, 4x400 and the high jump.

Gianotti began the indoor season in Spokane coming in fifth in the shot put and eighth in the weight throw.

Hart began her WOU career in Spokane running in both the 200 and the 4x400.

Heldt ran in the 3,000 during the Spokane Invitational coming in seventh.

Hopwood began the new season entering in the 60 and the 200 in Spokane.

Hurley opened the indoor season in Spokane competing in the 60 hurdles, 4x400 and the high jump.

Lambing will compete in her first indoor meet of the season after last running in the 400 hurdles during the 2021 GNAC Outdoor Championships.

Larson will also open her indoor season this week after last competing in the fall cross country season running in the NCAA Division II West Regional.

Lyness-Morales began her season in Spokane throwing in the shot put and weight throw.

Ngaida will begin her indoor season this weekend after last competing in the Seattle Pacific Final Qualifier in the high jump and triple jump during the 2020 indoor season.

Popchock began her indoor season competing in Spokane in the 60-meter, 60 hurdles and the triple jump. She placed seventh in the 60 hurdles and also came in seventh in the triple jump.

Thompson will open the indoor season this weekend after last competing in the 2021 GNAC Outdoor Championships entering in the 100-meter, 100 hurdles and the 4x100.

Arce-Torres began the indoor season in Spokane running in the 200.

Burchfield competed in his first indoor event for WOU in Spokane entering in the 60 hurdles, high jump and was part of the 4x400 to come in fifth.

Cole will begin the indoor season this weekend after last competing in the GNAC Outdoor Championships in both the shot put and hammer throw.

Collins will begin the indoor season this weekend after last competing the GNAC Outdoor Championships in both the shot put, discus and hammer throw.

Conklin began the indoor season in Spokane competing in the 60 hurdles and the high jump.

Daos will open the indoor season this weekend after last competing in the fall for cross country in the NCAA Division II West Regional.

Harrison started the indoor season in Spokane competing in the long jump and triple jump. He placed fourth in the triple jump.

Hasher started off the indoor season in Spokane entering in the high jump.

Hutton will open the indoor season this weekend after last competing in the spring outdoor track season at the 2021 GNAC Outdoor Championships entering in the 800 and 1,500.

Mckenney will open the indoor season this weekend after last competing in the fall in cross country at the NCAA Division II West Regional.

Rambo opened the indoor season in Spokane competing in the mile and the 4x400, coming in third in the relay.

Sanchez also began the indoor season in Spokane running in the 800 and the 4x400, coming in fifth in the relay.

Smith started the indoor season in Spokane running the 3,000.

Sorah will open the indoor season this weekend after last competing in the high jump during the 2021 GNAC Outdoor Championships.

Stevens opened the indoor season in Spokane entering in the 60 hurdles, long jump and the 4x400 relay. He was part of a relay team that came in third and came in sixth in the long jump.

Southworth began the indoor season in Spokane entering in the 400 and the 4x400, as he was part of a relay team that placed third.

Walker competed in several events to open the season in Spokane including the 60 hurdles, 4x400, high jump, long jump and shot put. He was part of a relay team that came in third.

Warren will open the indoor season this weekend as it will be his first competition as a member of the Wolves.

Events will begin on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. with field events and then at 10 a.m. with running events.
