PORTLAND, Ore. – Katie Chapman put together a strong performance in the mile on Sunday picking up the victory to help lead the Western Oregon University men's and women's track teams into day two of the George Fox/Portland Indoor Meet on Sunday.
Chapman was able to claim the win in the mile after a strong challenge from Portland's Lauren Block. Chapman crossed at 5:15.85 for a new personal-best, while Block was right behind posting a time of 5:15.92. Chapman beat out 15 total runners in the event.
Lindie Larson also competed in the women's mile for the Wolves and collected a top-five finish when she crossed at 5:29.69 to place fifth overall.
Madeline Lambing competed in the women's 400-meter coming in fifth with a time of 1:03.16.
Aaron Hanible and Caleb Southworth both entered in the men's 400-meter with Hanible coming in third with a time of 51.70 and Southworth in eighth with a time of 53.53.
Carson Austin just missed a top-five finish in the men's 600 crossing at 1:28.44 to place sixth.
Easton Pomrankey and Jordan Kemper each competed in the men's 800 with Pomrankey collecting a top-five finish when he crossed at 2:01.39 to come in fifth. Kemper crossed in 16th.
Kaylin Cantu and Kaitlyn Kruse each competed in the women's 3,000 with Cantu coming in eighth with a time of 10:37.37. Kruse crossed in 26th.
Jaden McCabe entered in the men's 3,000 coming in 20th.
WOU will return to action this coming Friday and Saturday when they will compete in the UW Invite.
