THE WOLVES HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2022 STATISTICS
Western Oregon is coming off an exciting 16-14 win over Central Washington on Saturday that saw the Wolves score the final 13 points in the fourth quarter - including an 11-yard touchdown pass from
Gannon Winker to
Omari Dixon-Land with nine seconds left. The game almost went south for the Wolves as CWU blocked the ensuing extra point, but kicker
Danny Cossette (the Lone Star Conference Special Teams Player of the Week) raced down field and tackled the CWU ball carrier two yards before reaching the end zone for a game-tying two-point conversion. The defense kept WOU in it, allowing just 280 yards and were led by LSC Defensive Player of the Week
Jaylin Parnell - who had a season-high 13 tackles to go along with a forced fumble.
Parnell leads the WOU defense and LSC in tackles per game (9.2) and sacks per game (1.0) as he had 55 tackles, six sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and a blocked kick on the season.
Joey Sinclair is second on the team with 35 tackles to go along with a team-high three interceptions (including one each of the last two games).Â
Offensively, Winker has thrown for 1,379 yards, eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions with his top target being
Damon Hickok with 23 catches for 406 yards and two scores. On the ground, Dixon-Land has rushed for 540 yards and four scores to lead the Wolves.
WEST TEXAS A&M HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2022 STATISTICS
The Buffs have won two games in a row heading into this weekend, including a 38-26 win on the road last week at Midwestern State - a game it led 35-10 early in the third quarter. WTAMU racked up 585 yards of offense - 277 on the ground (with no rusher going for more than 100 yards) and 308 through the air with quarterback Nick Gerber going 23-for-28 and a touchdown.
Gerber has thrown for 1,393 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions in six games (232 yards per game) while completing 62.23 percent of his passes (he's also rushed for 243 yards and four scores). Noah Bogardus has been the team's top target, catching 32 passes for 547 yards and three scores. Jarrod Compton leads the ground game with 408 rushing yards and four touchdowns while Isaiah Smallwood has rushed for 290 yards and four more touchdowns.
Christopher Thomas leads the defense with 54 tackles - including 4.0 sacks. Ty Dillon has 34 tackles to go along with three interceptions while Preston Steszewski has a team-high four interceptions.

PARNELL, COSSETTE NAMED LSC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK - OCT. 10Â RELEASE

Danny Cossette were both honored for their performances against Central Washington on Oct. 8 as Parnell was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week and Cossette was selected as the LSC Special Teams Player of the Week.
In a 16-14 win over Central Washington, Parnell led a Wolves defense that allowed just 280 yards thanks to a team-high 13 tackles and a forced fumble. Cossette made the play of the game - if not the season - with WOU up 16-14 over Central Washington with nine seconds left. After his extra point was blocked, CWU recovered the ball and attempted to return it for a two-point conversion. Cossette raced down field and made the tackle inside the five-yard line to save the game for the Wolves. He also connected on a season-best 48-yard field goal.
DIXON-LAND BREAKS ALL-TIME RUSHING RECORD AT WESTERN
Senior running back
Omari Dixon-Land has been the leading rusher for the Wolves in each of the past three seasons and he's now he's become the top rusher in program history. With 94 yards against Angelo State on Oct. 1, he passed Bill Volk's total of 3,172 on the all-time list and now has 3,289 career rushing yards. His 604 rushing attempts puts him second on the all-time list (Volk has the most with 613) and his 24 rushing touchdowns has him tied for seventh (the record is 37 rushing touchdowns held by Volk)

COACH FERGUSON APPROACHING CENTURY MARK IN WINS
WOU head football coach
Arne Ferguson has been a staple in the Western Oregon football program since his playing days from 1985-88 where he was an All-CFA choice three times. Now entering his 17th season as head coach (he was an assistant coach from 1989 until head coach save one season in 1992), he's approaching a career milestone only one other Western Oregon coach has reached - the 100 career wins at Western Oregon. Ferguson enters this week with 96 victories with only the legendary Bill McArthur - who coached 36 seasons at Western - ahead of him at 180 victories.
