SAN FRANCISCO, Calif./EUGENE, Ore. – With student-athletes competing in multiple meets on the day, the Western Oregon University men's and women's track and field programs saw a lot of top results to highlight the day. WOU had athletes competing at the Mike Fanelli Classic, the Stanford Invitational and the Hayward Premiere.
Austin Goldstein continued his impressive showing in the javelin at the Hayward Premiere reaching another new PR when he hit a distance of 206-6 to come in sixth. Goldstein's new mark ranks fifth on the WOU all-time list.
Bailey Smith improved his WOU all-time Top 10 time in the 3,000 steeple when he crossed at 9:13.80 to come in second. His new time ranks ninth on the all-time list.
Other results at the Hayward Premiere include Liliana Lyness-Morales hitting a mark of 141-8 in the hammer to come in 22nd. Mark Warren hit a distance of 152-0 in the hammer to place 25th. In addition to Goldstein in the javelin, Collin Warmouth made his WOU track and field debut in the event hitting a distance of 181-2 to come in 14th. Eli Nafziger placed 20th with a distance of 165-3. Kaylee Wright placed 11th in the javelin with a throw of 135-11. Lyndee McLauchlin came in 19th hitting a distance of 120-7. Marlon Harrison competed in the long jump and reached a distance of 20-7.25 to come in 20th.
Katie Chapman hit a new PR in the 1,500 competing at the Mike Fanelli Classic coming in 11th in section five and placing 50th overall out of 94 competitors. Kaylin Cantu came in 21st in section three and placed 67th overall in the 5,000. Keanu Daos hit a PR in the 5,000 coming in with a time of 15:03.88 to place 10th in section four and 69th overall out of 164 competitors.
At the Stanford Invitational, Jessy Hart posted a new PR in the 400 with a time of 59.07 to come in 28th. Gabe Arce-Torres came in 24th in the 400 with a time of 49.72. Owen Collins hit a new season-best in the hammer reaching a distance of 156-8 to come in fifth. Moana Gianotti came in ninth in the shot put reaching a mark of 40-7.75. Halle Hargett also competed in the shot put hitting a distance of 35-5.75.
WOU will compete in all three meets again tomorrow (Saturday).
