LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The week is off to a strong start for the Western Oregon University men's and women's track and field teams competing in several Orange County Area meets on Thursday. WOU had student-athletes in the Mt. Sac Relays, Pacific Coast Meet and Bryan Clay Invite.

Kaylee Wright moved to sixth on the WOU all-time list in the javelin when she hit a mark of 151-4. Wright's new distance moves to eighth-best in the NCAA DII this year. Overall at the Pacific Coast Meet, Wright placed fourth in the event going against several Division I competitors.

Moana Gianotti reached a new PR in the shot put at the Pacific Coast Meet when she hit a distance of 45-10.75. That new PR improves Gianotti's fifth-best WOU all-time mark as well. Gianotti placed in a tie for 16^th during the meet on Thursday in a field that had over 50 competitors.

Bailey Smith climbed to sixth on the WOU all-time list in the 3,000 steeplechase when he posted a time of 9:09.65 during the Mt. Sac Relays. Overall he placed 45^th during the meet on Thursday.

Keanu Daos ran to the ninth-best WOU all-time mark in the 10,000 crossing at 31:49.49 during the Bryan Clay Invite. Overall he placed 28^th during the Bryan Clay Invite on Thursday.

Justin Conklin hit a new PR height in the high jump during the Pacific Coast Meet coming in at 6-5 to place 10^th and was one of just three in the event from NCAA DII.

Ana Popchock led three Wolves in the 100 hurdles at the Pacific Coast Meet when she crossed at 14.88 to place 18^th, which is a new PR and is just outside the top 10 in program history. Maliyah Thompson followed with a PR of her own coming in at 15.09 to place 23^rd. Jenelle Hurley rounded out the results for WOU placing 30^th.

Gabe Arce-Torres hit a new season-best in the 400 during the Pacific Coast Meet crossing at 49.44 to place 10^th.

Conklin also entered in the 110 hurdles coming in sixth with a time of 15.04.

Jessy Hart entered the 400 during the Pacific Coast Meet coming in 22^nd with a time of 1:00.61.

Maya Hopwood paced the Wolves in the 200 during the Pacific Coast Meet coming in 11^th with a time of 12.34. Thompson also competed in the event coming in a few spots behind Hopwood in 14^th with a time of 12.40.

Dominique Loggins was close to his season time in the 100 at the Pacific Coast Meet when he came in 17^th with a time of 10.95.

Samuel Cole hit a mark of 160-7 in the hammer to come in 30^th during the Pacific Coast Meet.

Austin Goldstein hit a distance of 190-2 in the javelin during the Pacific Coast Meet to come in seventh.

Amity Deters and Hurley entered in the high jump during the Pacific Coast Meet with both hitting a height of 5-1.25. Deters ended up 18^th and Hurley tied for 20^th.

Popchock also competed in the triple jump hitting a distance of 36-0.75 to come in 18^th during the Pacific Coast Meet.

Marlon Harrison came in eighth in the triple jump reaching a distance of 44-4.75.

Owen Collins placed 45^th in the shot put during the Pacific Coast Meet hitting a distance of 43-1.

Luz Garcia ran to a time of 18:15.34 in the 5,000 during the Bryan Clay Invite to place 41^st.

Keeton Sanchez led three Wolves in the 800 during the Bryan Clay Invite when he hit a new season-best time of 1:52.73 to come in 119^th. Emmett Klus also added a new season-best time in the event when he crossed at 1:55.79 to place 157^th. Timothy Rambo was just a few spots back crossing with a new season-best time of 1:56.25 to place 163^rd.

Caitlin Heldt competed in the 5,000 during the Bryan Clay Invite coming in 20^th.

It will be another busy day for the Wolves on Friday as they will have student-athletes competing at the Long Beach Invitational, Bryan Clay Invite and Lewis & Clark Invite.
