More Top Marks Continue For Wolves On Friday

LOS ANGELES, Calif./PORTLAND, Ore. – Top results from Jenelle Hurley and Justin Crosswhite helped highlight another solid day for the Western Oregon University men's and women's track and field teams on Friday while competing at the Bryan Clay Invite, Long Beach Invitational and the Lewis & Clark Invite. Results from the Lewis & Clark Invite weren't available on Friday night and will be included in the Saturday results.

Crosswhite led three Wolves in a strong showing in the 1,500 at Bryan Clay during the first section running of the event. Crosswhite hit a new PR and improved his spot on the WOU all-time list with a time of 3:48.93. Crosswhite placed 25th on Friday and moved to seventh on the all-time list. Hunter Hutton was close to his PR time in the event crossing at 3:49.48 to come in 37th. Keeton Sanchez ran his first collegiate 1,500 coming in with a time of 3:55.89 to place 140th.

Hurley improved her top 10 program mark in the long jump during the Bryan Clay Invite hitting a new PR distance of 18-11.75 to come in 15th. Hurley's new mark moves her to fourth on the all-time list.

Samuel Cole competed in the hammer in back-to-back days as he hit a new PR throwing for over 10-plus feet from his mark on Thursday hitting a distance of 171-5 on Friday at the Long Beach Invitational to place 40th. He clears his previous PR by over a foot.

Moana Gianotti also competed in the hammer on Friday at Long Beach after setting a new PR in the shot put yesterday. On Friday, Gianotti hit a mark of 141-6 in the hammer to place 55th.

WOU had several compete in the 100 hurdles at Bryan Clay with Hurley leading the Wolves coming in 46th with a time of 15.19. Maliyah Thompson was the next one in at 15.37 to place 51st. Ana Popchock was right behind with a time of 15.45 to place 58th, while Amity Deters came in 74th.

Jessy Hart ran an almost identical time on both Thursday and Friday, as she crossed at 1:00.69 in the 400 during Bryan Clay to come in 83rd on Friday a day after posting a time of 1:00.61.

Maya Hopwood competed in the 100 for the second straight day coming in with a time of 12.37 on Friday at Bryan Clay to place 69th. Hopwood ran to a time of 12.34 during the 100 on Thursday.

Kaylee Wright came in fourth in the javelin at Bryan Clay hitting a distance of 136-4.

Austin Goldstein entered the javelin for the second straight day at Bryan Clay hitting a distance of 189-6 to come in fifth. It was nearly the exact same mark from Thursday when Goldstein hit 190-2.

Marlon Harrison entered the triple jump for the second straight day at Bryan Clay hitting a mark of 43-5.75 to come in 29th. That was close to his distance of 44-4.75 from Thursday.

Ana Popchock was close to her PR in the triple jump having hit a mark of 37-5.25 at Bryan Clay to come in 31st. That's just off of Popchock's PR of 37-6.75 and was a strong result after hitting a mark of 36-0.75 on Thursday in the event.

Deters entered the high jump for the second straight day during the Bryan Clay Invite hitting a height of 5-2.25 to tie for 11th. This comes after Deters hit a mark of 5-1.25 in the event on Thursday.

Bailey Smith, Emmett Klus and Timothy Rambo also competed in the 1,500 during Bryan Clay with Smith leading the way coming in 64th during the second running of the event on the night with a time of 3:59.19. Klus and Rambo almost came in with the same time as Klus crossed at 4:06.33 to place 110th and Rambo came in 4:06.65 to place 112th.

WOU will have several more student-athletes competing tomorrow (Saturday) at the Lewis & Clark Invite in Portland.
