WOLVES VOLLEYBALL SET TO HOST ALASKA SCHOOLS THIS WEEK
The Western Oregon volleyball team looks to build off a five-set, road victory Saturday at Northwest Nazarene as the Wolves host Alaska Fairbanks on Thursday and Alaska Anchorage on Saturday at New PE Building.

WOU moved to 8-5 overall and 2-3 in GNAC action with the Saturday win as it sits tied for sixth early in the conference season. The eight wins is just a win shy of last season's total - which was the most for the program since 2016.

Last season against the Alaska schools, the Wolves split against the UAF - winning in Fairbanks in five sets, WOU's first win against the Nanooks since 2016 - while dropping both matches to then-nationally ranked Alaska Anchorage in 2022 (WOU is looking for first win over UAA since 2012). UAF enters the contest at 8-11 overall and 1-4 in GNAC action while Anchorage is 10-10 overall heading into the week, 2-3 in conference play.

WOU FOOTBALL HOSTS WESTERN NEW MEXICO ON SATURDAY
The Western Oregon football team returns to Monmouth this week as the Wolves host Western New Mexico 1:05 p.m. Saturday at McArthur Field.

The Wolves (2-3 overall, 1-2 LSC) are coming off a thrilling 37-36 victory over West Texas A&M on the road last week with Gannon Winker hitting Brenden Hodge with a 2-yard touchdown pass with two seconds remaining to give WOU the win. Winker threw for 232 yards and accounted for four touchdowns (three passing, one rushing), Hodge caught three passes for 63 yards and two touchdowns, Keyvaun Eady had five receptions for 100 yards and a score while Dominique Loggins rushed for 121 yards and a score. Defensively Muggy Dawson had a tem-high seven tackles while Malcolm Liufau had six tackles and a sack. Loggins ranks third in the Lone Star Conference in rushing with 422 yards - averaging 5.3 yards per carry while Eady is second in the conference in receptions (22) and fourth in receiving yards (301).

Last season, the Wolves fell to WNMU in Silver City 35-30 - it's first loss to the Mustangs in four all-time meetings (won in 2017, 2003 and 2002). Since joining the LSC last season, WOU is 6-6 in conference games with five of those losses by 10 points or less (four by five points or less).

WOU MEN'S SOCCER HITS THE ROAD TO FACE NNU THURSDAY, RETURNS HOME TO FACE SAINT MARTIN'S SATURDAY
The WOU men's soccer team enters week two of the GNAC slate with a road game at Northwest Nazarene on Thursday before hosting Saint Martin's 11 a.m. Saturday.

The Wolves (4-2-1 overall, 1-0-1 GNAC) after week one sit tied atop the GNAC standings with four points after playing Simon Fraser to a 2-2 draw last Thursday at home thanks to a pair of second-half goals after falling behind 2-0 and defeating Montana State Billings 2-0 on the road Saturday. Alejandro Velasco earned GNAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after scoring three goals (two against SFU, one against MSUB) and adding an assist against the Yellowjackets. Velasco leads the GNAC and is tied for 24th in NCAA Division II with six goals.

Last season during the Wolves' inaugural season, WOU dropped both games to Northwest Nazarene (3-1 on the road and 2-1 at home) and went 1-1 against Saint Martin's (2-0 win at home, 5-2 loss on the road).

NO. 24 WOLVES WOMEN'S SOCCER HITS THE ROAD TO CONTINUE GNAC ACTION TO FACE MSU BILLINGS, SEATTLE PACIFIC
The WOU women's soccer team will start a two-game road trip 5 p.m. (PT) Thursday at Montana State Billings (1-4-2, 0-3-1) with a 5 p.m. (PT) kickoff before traveling to Seattle to play Seattle Pacific (6-2-1, 3-0-1), on Saturday at 2 p.m. - a team that leads the GNAC heading into the week, a point ahead of the Wolves.

WOU's back-to-back home wins last week against Simon Fraser (1-0 on Thursday) and defending national champion Western Washington (1-0 on Saturday) propelled the Wolves back into the national rankings at No. 24.  Recognizing their strong play, WOU was named GNAC Team of the Week while senior center back Hannah Rispler was named the GNAC Defensive Player of the Week thanks to leading an effort by WOU to hold SFU and WWU to a combined four shots on goal.

Last season the Wolves went 0-1-1 against MSUB - playing to a 1-1 draw on the road and losing 1-0 at home. WOU will be looking for its first win over the Yellowjackets since 2019 and its first win in Billings since 2013. Against Seattle Pacific in 2022, WOU went 1-1, losing on the road 2-1 and winning at home 2-1. The Wolves are looking for their first win in Seattle against the Falcons ever since SPU started its program in 2001 (a stretch of 23 games).

WOU CROSS COUNTRY TRAVELS TO SAN FRANCISCO STATE INVITE
The WOU cross country team is traveling to compete in the San Francisco State Invite on Friday at Golden Gate Park. The women's 6K is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m., followed by the men's 8K at 4:15 p.m.

After a two-week racing break, the San Francisco State Invite will provide the Wolves with an opportunity to assess their performance against fellow West Region teams, including Chico State, Fresno Pacific, Cal State East Bay and Simon Fraser. The Wolves are returning to the course for the first time since securing both team titles at the Mike Johnson Classic in Monmouth.
