NOTES FOR THIS WEEK...

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
  • The Wolves got their first win in GNAC play last weekend, beating Northwest Nazarene 78-74 on Saturday after falling to Central Washington 77-67 on Thursday in their conference opener. 
  • WOU is fifth in the GNAC standings through two games, sitting second in assists per game (16.1) and first in offensive rebounding (13.1). 
  • Cali McClave is fifth in the GNAC in scoring (16.3), first in steals (2.4) and averaging 2.9 assists. Triniti Youngblood is second in the GNAC in assists per game (3.9) while averaging 10.2 points. Kiylynn Dawkins is second in the GNAC in field goal percentage (64.7 percent) while averaging 8.6 points and 4.3 rebounds.
  • The Wolves are 2-2 all-time against Oregon Tech - the last matchup coming in 2017, falling 59-53.
  • WOU is 27-2 all-time against Linfield, though this will be the teams' first meeting in the regular season since 1998.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
  • The Wolves dropped both games during GNAC-opening week at home, falling to Central Washington 81-67 and to Northwest Nazarene 65-62.
  • Qiant Myers still leads the nation and the conference in assists per game (7.0). He's also third in the GNAC in scoring at 17.1 points per game.
  • Cameron Benzel leads the conference in blocks per game at 1.5 (54th in the nation).
  • WOU is 32nd in the country and second in the GNAC in free-throw percentage (76.9).
  • While Saturday's contest is an exhibition for the Wolves (not for Boise State), the two teams have met once before in the regular season on Dec. 30, 1982 - a 77-60 Broncos win.
TRACK & FIELD
  • The men's and women's track teams will kick off the 2023-24 indoor season at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Spokane Invitational, held at The Podium. Both teams are looking to defend team titles after claiming GNAC Indoor Championships last season.
  • The women are returning several key athletes - Ujunwa Nwokoma looks to defend her individual titles after claiming indoor and outdoor long jump titles. Maliyah Thompson, who placed second in the 60-meter hurdles and third in the 60, and Caitlin Heldt, who placed second in the 5000 and fourth in the 3000 at the indoor championships, are also returning.
  • The men's team also has key athletes returning - Justin Conklin, who won the indoor title in the 60-meter hurdles, and Keeton Sanchez, who claimed the individual title in the 1500 outdoors. The men also return Amari Hendrix, who placed second in the 400 outdoors, and Mark Warren, who placed second in the shot put indoors.
  • The Wolves have 12 athletes entered to compete at the Spokane Invitational. On the women's side, Thompson (200, 60 hurdles, 60), Nwokoma (long jump), Macy Clemens (60 hurdles, high jump, long jump), Amity Deters (60 hurdles, high jump, long jump) and Madeline Lambing (400) are entered to compete. The men have Conklin (60 hurdles and high jump), Caleb Ness (60 hurdles, 60), Gabe Burchfield (60 hurdles, long jump, high jump) Dustyn McKenney and Easton Pomranke7 (3000), Marley Harrison (long jump, triple jump) and Jacob Behrman and Justin Parnell (weight throw, shot put) set to compete Saturday.
