MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon women's and men's track and field teams each took second place while snagging three more individual titles and
Jenelle Hurley earning GNAC Women's Field Athlete of the Meet on Saturday on the final day of the GNAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at McArthur Field.
The WOU women finished with 160 points - 23 points behind Western Washington for the conference title. The men finished with 124 points - 85.5 points behind WWU to take second.Â
Hurley earned the Field Athlete of the Meet after winning the heptathlon, taking third in the long jump, second in the high jump and 16th in the javelin.
Dayne Gordien claimed his second individual title of the event - winning the discus with a distance of 48.78 meters (160 feet). The senior also won the shot put on Friday.
Mark Warren also made the podium in the event, finishing third with a distance of 14.58 meters.
Keeton Sanchez won the 1,500 with a time of 3:54.20 - 0.80 seconds ahead of second place.
Kaylee Wright won the javelin Saturday with a NCAA provisional qualifying distance of 43.25 meters (141-10) in an event that WOU swept the top three spots with
Lyndee McLauchlin taking second (40.2) and
Abigail Sanders finishing third (38.74).
Also earning top three finishes on Saturday was
Maliyah Thompson in the 100 hurdles (third, 14.31),
Justin Conklin in the 110 hurdles (second, 14.73),
Amari Hendrix in the 400 (second, 47.93),
Emmett Klus in the 800 (second, 1:50.9),
Krystal Andres in the discus (third, 39.69) and
Amariyah Clay in the triple jump (third, 11.68).
