MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The inclement weather at times Friday during Western Oregon John Knight Twilight didn't slow down times as WOU saw a pair of school top-10 performances.
Â
In a competitive 800 in the pouring rain that saw WOU alum and Team USA representative for the 2024 Pan American Games Derek Holdsworth come away with the win at 1:49.13, Wolves freshman
Isaiah Rodriguez took third at 1:50.53 – this sixth-fastest time in WOU history, a D-II provisional and the 10
th-fastest time in Division II this season. Fellow freshman
Elwood Hosking would've made the WOU top 10 at No. 10 with his fourth-place time of 1:51.65 – but Rodriguez's time pushed him out.
Â
Another freshman made the WOU all-time top 10 list as Marliyn Ramirez-Carmona won the shot put with a mark of 43 feet, 1.75 inches (13.15 meters) – good for seventh in school history.
Â
