MONMOUTH, Ore. -
Stephanie Beeler had eight kills and
Krissi Kemper added five but it was not enough as the Western Oregon volleyball team fell in three sets, 25-18, 25-13 and 25-15, at No. 13 Seattle Pacific on Saturday, Oct. 23.
The win kept Seattle Pacific (20-1, 12-1 GNAC) in a virtual tie with Western Washington atop the Great Northwest Athletic Conference standings. The loss dropped the third place Wolves (10-8 overall) to 8-5 in conference play.
"SPU played great and served really well," said Western Oregon head coach
Brad Saindon. "We competed really well in the first set, but we couldn't sustain it over time."
Kemper took just 10 swings to record her five kills, while committing just two errors. Beeler recorded her eight kills, and three errors, on 22 attempts for a .227 hitting percentage. WOU also received four blocks from
Becky Blees, 12 digs from
Megan Triggs and 14 assists for
Jorden Burrows.
"We just never got anything going and playing Seattle Pacific on the backside of a road trip is always tough," Saindon concluded.
Lindsey Wodrich had 10 kills to lead the Falcons.
Western Oregon will now return to Monmouth for its final homestand of the season. It will take on Northwest Nazarene on Thursday (Oct. 28) and Central Washington on Saturday (Oct. 30). Both matches will begin at 7:00 p.m. Saturday will also be senior day, where the Wolves will honor seniors
Jorden Burrows and
Stephanie Beeler.
