MONMOUTH, Ore. - Ten members of the Western Oregon University track & field team, five men and five women, have been selected to 2010 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Track & Field Academic Team.

Justin Karr, a junior from Tigard, Ore. (Tigard High School), was the top performer among all males in the conference with a 3.99 GPA as a Political Science major. This marks the second straight season Karr has represented Western Oregon on the academic all-conference team. Also joining Karr as repeat selections on the academic team were Braxton Jackson (Lincoln City, Ore.) and Brandon Snook (Oregon City, Ore.). First time selections included Matt McCrary (Gladstone, Ore.) and Matt Schryvers (Springfield, Ore.).

All five women to earn academic all-conference honors did so for the first time in their careers. Alee Rowley (Kenai, Alaska) represented Western Oregon as a senior. She was joined by junior Tricia Morrison (Hillsboro, Ore.), and sophomores Amanda Wright (Olympia, Wash.), Ali Mosher (Hillsboro, Ore.) and Kelsey Neilson (Sisters, Ore.).

To be eligible for the academic team, student-athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 and be in at least their second year of competition at their university. They must also qualify to compete in either the GNAC Indoor or Outdoor championship meet.
