SALEM, Ore. – The Western Oregon cross country team posted good performances at the 42
nd Charles Bowles Invitational, held at Bush Park on Saturday morning.

The Wolves saw sophomore
Dustin Nading earn a top 10 finish helping the men's team as the top Division II program and fifth overall.Â
Kennedy Rufener paced the WOU women in 16
th place as the earned a ninth-place score.
Â
Nading ran the 8,000-meter race in a time of 25:08.8 to finish in eight place overall in a race that featured runners from Divisions I, II and III. His time was the second-fastest for a Division II runner, just behind Judd Lewis of Concordia. Freshman
Justin Crosswhite came in 16
th at 25:27 and senior
Josh Dempsey ran a time of 26:06.2 for 44
th place. Rounding out the WOU scoring runners were sophomore
Tyler Jones in 47
th place (26:09.0) and freshman Stephen Fey in 78
th place (26:41.6.)

The men's individual race was won by Brady Johnson of Portland with a time of 24:15.7. The Pilots wn the team title with 23 points, flowed by New Mexico State and Willamette.

In the women's 5,000-meter race, the junior Rufener placed 16
th overall with a time of 18:26.0. Senior
Nicole Maurmann was 27
th in 18:43.7 while sophomore
Grace Knapp claimed 33
rd in 18:48.7. Junior
Suzanne Van De Grift placed 47
th at 19:03.2 and freshman
Virginia Link rounded out the Wolves' scoring in 101
st (20:04.2).

Portland won the women's team race while Division II runner Shannon Porter from Saint Martin's was the top overall finisher at 17:06.7, winning the race by 25 seconds.

Western Oregon will train this week in preparation for hosting the Ash Creek Invitational #2 on Friday, October 7. Races begin at 5 p.m. at the Ash Creek Preserve.
