MONMOUTH, Ore. –The Western Oregon cross country team hosted the Ash Creek Invitational #1 on Friday evening, held at the Ash Creek Preserve. The Wolves were paced by another winning performance from junior
David Ribich on the men's side and three women in the top seven as both teams finished second.

Ribich won his second race of the season with a winning time of 18:53.8 in the 6.3-kilometer men's contest. It was the first time in his cross country career notching back-to-back victories. Ribich won the race by 13 seconds over Ray Schireman of Southern Oregon.

Sophomore
Dustin Nading was the next finisher for the Wolves, coming in eighth overall with a time of 19:34.3.
Justin Crosswhite made the top-15 with a time of 19:51.7.
Josh Dempsey in 16
th place (19:58) and
Tyler Jones in 17
th (10:01.5) rounded out the scoring quintet for the Wolves.

Hunter Mossman crossed in a time of 20:06.7 to finish 19
th while transfers
Michael Chin (20:08.8) and
Alan Ekanger (20:13.7) finished 22
nd and 24
th respectively. Stephen Fey, making his WOU debut, was 32
nd at 20:38.5 and fellow freshman
Sawyer Heckard finished 38
th (20:46.7). Rounding out the top-50 was Brennan Bukley-Noonan at 21:15.3. Matthey Haglund crossed in 87
th at 24:06.9.

The WOU women placed second overall and were paced by a trio in the top-7. Senior
Nicole Maurmann placed fourth overall with a time of 17:33.
Kennedy Rufener and
Grace Knapp came in back-to-back spots as Rufener was sixth at 17:42.3 while Knapp followed in seventh at 17:56.5.

Suzanne Van De Grift led the next group of Wolves in 17
th place with a time of 18:26.7.
Lauren Kangas posted a time of 18:47.8 in 26
th place. Freshman
Rachel Bayly came in 35
th with 19:09.4 and fellow frosh
Virginia Link was 42
nd with a time of 19:18.2.

Antoinette Gowen (19:37.5) came in back-to-back in 45
th and 46
th place.
Olivia Woods followed closely behind at 19:49.7 in 49
th place.

Western Oregon returns to competition against Division-I teams next weekend competing in the Sundodger Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington. Races on Saturday, Sept. 17 begin at 9 a.m.
