Cross Country Earns Multiple USTFCCCA Academic Accolades

NEW ORLEANS – Both Western Oregon University men's and women's cross country programs, along with Luz Garcia and Keanu Daos earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors on Thursday.

The women's team posted a 3.64 GPA to land on the list, while the men's team compiled a 3.22 GPA to join the women's team earning the honor. In order to qualify for All-Academic Team distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period and compile a team score at their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.

Garcia and Daos also earned individual All-Academic accolades. In order to qualify for the All-Academic individual honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.

Garcia placed eighth at the NCAA Division II West Regional and then later advanced to the NCAA National Championships where she placed 107th. Daos placed 52nd at the West Regional.
