The Western Oregon track and field teams were competing about as far apart as the Wolves could in the continental U.S. this weekend - and had strong performances coming from each coast.
First, in Boston at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, the distance medley relay team of
Easton Pomrankey,
Brennen Murphy,
Isaiah Rodriguez and
Keeton Sanchez ran an NCAA provisional time of 9 minutes, 52.08 seconds - 10th all-time in WOU history.
On the other coast in Seattle at the Husky Classic,
Ujunwa Nwokoma a week after re-setting her school record in the long jump took second in the event with a distance of 18 feet, 7.25 inches (she re-set her school record last week with a distance of 19-0.75).
Caitlin Heldt in the 3,000 improved her No. 3 all-time mark in WOU history with a time of 10:02.25.
On the men's side,
Tyler White took third (45-6.25) and Marley Harrison took fourth (45-5) in the triple jump while
Justin Conklin just missed his top mark in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.38 for fifth place (his PR of 8.33 sits second in WOU history).
The Wolves are now on to the GNAC Indoor Championships set for Feb. 19-20 in Spokane.
