  • The men are coming off taking first at the Ash Creek Collegiate 6K, with five top-10 finishes - led by Easton Pomrankey who placed second at 18:28.76.
  • Jordan Kemper has his season debut Friday after placing top 75 at the 2023 NCAA West Regionals. Women's racer Riley Smith opens her season after placing 49th at the 2023 NCAA West Regionals.
  • Both the men and women are coming into the meet looking to defend the home course after winning the Mike Johnson in 2023. The women are coming off a 6K top-five average of 22:21. The men are coming off an 18-point meet last year, having six in the top 10 and eight finish under 26 minutes for 8K.
THE REST OF THE FIELD
  • Participating schools include: Northwest Nazarene, George Fox, Oregon State, UO Running Club, Southwest Oregon CC, Mt. Hood CC, Umpqua CC and Walla Walla
  • Fellow GNAC competitor Northwest Nazarene men are No. 9 in the West region as ranked by USTFCCCA – coming off a sixth-place finish at the Cougar Classic where they defeated Division I opponents like Idaho, UC San Diego and Seattle U. The NNU women are also set to attend the Mike Johnson Classic - led by junior Morgan Erler who placed sixth in last year's GNAC 10K.
  • Local Division-III opponent George Fox is a team to watch out as the Bruin men are No. 10 in the country while the women are 19th. GFU is set to race only partial squads as other Bruins will be traveling to Indiana for the D-III National Preview next weekend.
