CORVALLIS, Ore. – With the championship season approaching, the Western Oregon University men's and women's track and field teams will get the chance to face another tough challenge this week traveling down the road to the Oregon State High Performance Meet this Friday and Saturday.
Liliana Lyness-Morales and Emillia Carpenter will compete in the women's hammer. Samuel Cole, Owen Collins and Mark Warren will enter in the men's hammer. Jenelle Hurley, Ana Popchock, Macy Clemens and Amity Deters will compete in the women's long jump. Marlon Harrison and Gabriel Burchfield will enter the men's long jump. Halle Hargett and Krystal Andres will compete in the women's discus. Madeline Lambing and Rilee Carstensen will compete in the women's 400 hurdles. Aaron Hanible will compete in the men's 400 hurdles. Maya Hopwood, Maliyah Thompson, Popchock and Taryn Wilson will enter in the women's 200. Amari Hendrix and James Mazzeo will compete in the men's 200. Emily Johnson will run in the women's 5,000. Dustyn McKenney and Cedar Davis-Frankfort will compete in the men's 5,000. Timothy Rambo, Emmett Klus, Bryce Mefford, Mckenney and Keeton Sanchez will all compete in the men's 1,500. Caitlin Heldt, Kaylin Cantu, Katie Chapman and Lindie Larson will enter in the women's 1,500. In another men's 1,500, Justin Crosswhite and Hunter Hutton will compete for the Wolves. Keanu Daos will enter the men's 5,000, while Heldt will enter the women's 5,000. In another men's 5,000, Bailey Smith will also compete for the Wolves. Luz Garcia will enter the women's 10,000. Kaylee Wright will compete in the women's javelin, along with Lyndee McLauchlin. Austin Goldstein will enter in the men's javelin, along with Collin Warmouth and Eli Nafziger. Kalulusno Ngaida will enter the women's high jump, while Devin Hasher and Justin Conklin will enter the men's high jump. Moana Gianotti, Halle Hargett and Lyness-Morales will compete in the women's shot put. Collins will enter the men's shot put. Ngaida and Logan Jackson will compete in the women's triple jump. Harrison and Jacob Flury will enter the men's triple jump. Crosswhite, Hutton, Sanchez, Klus, Rambo, Wyatt Smith, Mckenney, Matthew Schenk and Mefford will all enter the men's 800. Chapman and Peyton Green will compete in the women's 800. Thompson and Hailey Blue will enter the women's 100 hurdles. Conklin, James Duane and Brennen Sorah will run in the men's 110 hurdles. Jessy Hart will compete in the women's 400, while Gabe Arce-Torres and Carson Austin will run in the men's 400. Hopwood, Wilson and Josie Lavato will compete in the women's 100. Dominique Loggins, Hendrix and Mazzeo will enter the men's 100. WOU will also enter a 4x400 men's and women's relay teams.
Lyness-Morales' top PR mark this season in the hammer was during John Knight with a distance of 148-8. Carpenter also hit a PR mark this season in the hammer during John Knight with a distance of 141-11.
Cole hit a new PR in the hammer during the Beach Invitational with a mark of 171-5. Collins hit his PR distance in the hammer during John Knight with a mark of 165-7. Warren added his PR distance in the hammer also during John Knight with a mark of 156-6.
Hurley is coming off of a new PR distance in the long jump reaching a mark of 19-0 during the Oregon Relays. Popchock hit a new PR in the long jump during John Knight with a distance of 17-4.25. Clemens' top mark this season in the long jump was 16-11.25 during John Knight. Deters hit a new PR in the event during the Adams-Klein Combined Events hitting a mark of 17-0.5.
Harrison hit a season-best in the long jump during an earlier trip to Oregon State with a distance of 21-4. Burchfield will compete in the long jump for just the second time this outdoor season, having hit a distance of 21-0.5 during the indoor season.
Halle Hargett hit a season-best in the discus at Stanford with a mark of 125-0. Andres hit a new PR in the discus during John Knight with a mark of 123-3.
Lambing hit a new PR in the 400 hurdles just a few weeks ago at the Lewis & Clark Invite with a time of 1:06.35. Carstensen has competed in the 400 hurdles at five different meets this season with a best time of 1:10.72 during the first trip to Oregon State.
Hanible has a season-best time of 56.55 in the 400 hurdles during the Hayward Premiere.
Hopwood hasn't run the 200 this year with a PR best time of 25.17. Thompson ran the 200 once during John Knight posting a time of 25.55. Popchock ran the 200 once this outdoor season with a time of 26.27 during the Willamette Invitational. Wilson has a top 200 time so far this outdoor season of 26.59 during the Willamette Invitational.
Hendrix has run the 200 twice so far this outdoor season with a top time of 22.60 during the first trip to Oregon State. Mazzeo has also run the 200 twice this outdoor season with a best time of 23.02 during the first trip to Oregon State.
Johnson will run in her second 5,000 of the outdoor season having entered the event at Lewis & Clark Invite.
McKenney will run in the 5,000 for the first time this outdoor season, while Davis-Frankfort will compete in the event for the second straight meet having run at Lewis & Clark Invite.
Rambo ran the 1,500 for the first time this outdoor season during the Bryan Clay Invitational. Klus also entered the 1,500 for the first time this outdoor season at Bryan Clay. Mefford is just coming off of his first run in the 1,500 so far this outdoor season at the Lewis & Clark Invite. Mckenney has run the 1,500 twice this outdoor season, most recently at the Willamette Invitational. Sanchez posted a strong time entering the 1,500 for the first time this outdoor season at Bryan Clay with a time of 3:55.89.
Heldt is coming off of a new PR in the 1,500 during the Oregon Relays wit ha time of 4:46.70. Cantu ran the 1,500 once this outdoor season at the Willamette Invitational and was close to her PR with a time of 4:53.25. Chapman set a new early PR in the 1,500 during John Knight with a time of 4:56.36. Larson has competed in the 1,500 twice this outdoor season at Willamette and John Knight.
Crosswhite and Hutton will also compete in another 1,500 during the meet. Crosswhite set a new PR in the event during Bryan Clay with a time of 3:48.93. Hutton also competed in the event during Bryan Clay crossing with a time of 3:49.48, which is close to his PR. Crosswhite's time ranks 47th in NCAA DII and Hutton's time ranks 53rd in NCAA DII, both are provisional times as well.
Daos hit a new PR in the 5,000 posting a time of 15:03.88 during the Mike Fanelli Classic.
Heldt will enter the 5,000, having entered the event once this outdoor season at Bryan Clay.
In another men's 5,000, Smith will compete for the Wolves, as this will be the first time running the event this outdoor season.
Garcia will run in her first 10,000 of the outdoor season, having entered the 5,000 so far this year.
Wright has climbed up the rankings in the javelin throughout the season with her PR distance of 151-4 during the Pacific Coast Invitational which ranks 10th in all of NCAA DII. McLauchlin hit a new season-best in the event last time out during the Oregon Relays with a distance of 134-2, which is just off her PR.
Goldstein hit his PR mark in the javelin during the Hayward Premiere with a distance of 206-7. His mark also ranks 17th in NCAA DII. Warmouth began his collegiate track and field career strong throwing the javelin for the first time during Hayward Premiere and hitting a distance of 181-3. Nafziger is coming off of a PR last time out in the event hitting a distance of 178-10 during John Knight.
Ngaida hit a top height this season in the high jump of 5-1.25 during the Lewis & Clark Invite.
Hasher hit 6-2.75 throughout the outdoor season in the high jump before hitting a new season-best of 6-3.5 during the Lewis & Clark Invite. Conklin hit a new PR height in the high jump of 6-5 last time out during the Pacific Coast Invitational.
Gianotti hit a new PR in the shot put during the Pacific Coast Invitational with a distance of 45-10.75, which is also tied for 26th in NCAA DII and is a provisional. Hargett reached a new distance of 38-8.75 in the shot put during the Lewis & Clark Invite. Lyness-Morales set a new PR in the shot put during the Willamette Invitational with a distance of 38-7.
Collins will enter the shot put and has a season-best distance of 46-8.25 during the Willamette Invitational.
Ngaida has a top season-best mark in the triple jump of 36-2.75 during the first trip to Oregon State. Jackson has competed in the triple jump twice this outdoor season, both at Willamette and John Knight, with a top distance of 31-10 during John Knight.
Harrison hit a new PR in the triple jump during the Willamette Invitational with a distance of 45-3. Flury has competed in the event twice this outdoor season with a top distance of 41-4.5 during John Knight.
Several Wolves will enter the men's 800. Crosswhite has a top season-time of 1:52.09 set last time during the Oregon Relays and is close to his PR in the event. Hutton will run the 800 for the first time this outdoor season with PR time of 1:52.78. Sanchez is coming off of a new PR in the 800 during Bryan Clay with a time of 1:53.73. Klus is coming off of his season-best time of 1:55.79 during Bryan Clay, which is close to his PR. Rambo has run the 800 twice this outdoor season with a top time of 1:56.25 during Bryan Clay. Smith will run the 800 for the first time this outdoor season. Mckenney has run the 800 twice this outdoor season, both at John Knight and WSU Open. Schenk is coming off of his PR and season-best time of 1:58.48 during the Lewis & Clark Invite. Mefford has run the 800 twice this outdoor season at Willamette and John Knight.
Chapman entered the 800 once this outdoor season coming in with a time of 2:23.76 during the Willamette Invitational. Green has entered the 800 twice this outdoor season with a top time of 2:27.12 during the Lewis & Clark Invite.
Thompson has had a strong outdoor season in the 100 hurdles with a top time of 15.09 during John Knight. Blue has competed in the 100 hurdles four times this outdoor season with a top time of 16.14 during the first trip to Oregon State.
Conklin is coming off of a PR time of 15.04 in the 110 hurdles during the Pacific Coast Invitational. Duane has a top PR time of 15.51 in the event during the Willamette Invitational. Sorah has a PR time of 15.65 in the event during the Adams-Klein Combined.
Hart will run in the 400 with a PR time of 59.07 during the Stanford Invitational earlier this outdoor season.
Arce-Torres has run the 400 three times this outdoor season with a best time of 49.44 last time out during the Pacific Coast Invitational. Austin hit a new PR in the event last time out during the Lewis & Clark Invite with a time of 53.43.
Hopwood has entered the 100 in seven meets so far this outdoor season with a best time of 12.23 during the first trip to Oregon State. Wilson posted a PR time of 12.63 during the Willamette Invitational. Lavato hit a new PR in the event during the first trip to Oregon State with a time of 12.79.
Loggins has run the 100 twice this outdoor season with a top time of 10.85 during Hayward Premiere. Hendrix hit his top PR and season-best time in the event twice this year of 11.16 running at John Knight and the first trip to Oregon State. Mazzeo set a new PR in the event during the first trip to Oregon State with a time of 11.19.
In the women's 4x400, WOU will have Hart, Green, Carstensen and Lambing. In the men's 4x400, WOU will have Hendrix, Sanchez, Klus and Rambo.
