WESTERN OREGON NOTES
- The Wolves are coming off a split at Central Washington to stay a game ahead of the Wildcats for second place in the GNAC with the Wolves still a game behind Northwest Nazarene (though WOU at 14-10 in GNAC action has played four more games in GNAC play than the Nighthawks at 13-7).
- The 160 wins against SMU is the most for WOU against any team in the program's history and WOU hasn't lost a four-game to the Saints over that stretch - going 28-0-4 in four-game series since 2002 (though three of the four split series did happen at home).
- Since 2002, WOU is 69-13 at home against Saint Martin's.
- WOU has been led by it's pitching (4.44 ERA - tops in the conference and 26th in D-II) and defense (.973 - tops in the conference and 25th in D-II) this season. The Wolves rank nationally in the top 20 in WHIP (walks and hits per inning) at 1.29, 15th in hits allowed per nine innings (8.19) and walks allowed per nine innings (3.43).
- Individually in the conference stat ranks, 2023 Co-GNAC Pitcher of the Year Dylan Chalmers is second in the GNAC in ERA (2.96), third in innings (54.2) and fifth in strikeouts (46). Jacob Memmott is third in ERA (3.57), fourth in opposing batting average (.222), seventh in strikeouts (40) and tied for second in wins (5). Arturo Alvarez leads the GNAC in wins (6) and is fifth in opposing batting average .(247).
- In terms of conference hitting stats, WOU's Justyn Herzog ranks first in hit by pitches (16) and tied for second in runs scored (32), John Oleson is second in hit by pitches (13) and sixth in RBI (27), AJ Cortese is tied for second in doubles (12) and Owen Bischoff and Curran Mitzel are tied for first in triples with five (tied for seventh on the WOU single-season list).
- Senior Justyn Herzog enters his final home series in the top 20 history in several categories: 8th in at-bats (527), 10th in runs (114), T-12th in triples (6) and RBI (96), 13th in home runs (15), 14th in hits (134) and 16th in doubles (26). Another stat for Herzog is his two home runs in a home game against Eastern Oregon on Feb. 18 was the first multi-homer game by a WOU player at home since Michael Sherwin against Northwest Nazarene on May 2, 2015. There had been 14 multi-homer games by WOU players during that stretch - all on the road.
- Other Wolves in the career ranks include - Dylan Chalmers, 3.05 ERA (ninth); AJ Cortese, 26 doubles (tied for 16th);Â Curran Mitzel, 7 triples (T-9th);Â Owen Bischoff, 6 triples (T-12th);Â Bryce Bond, 46 appearances (12th), 8 saves (T-5th);Â Arturo Alvarez, 18 wins (10th); Devin Bell, 7 saves (T-10th); Ryan Shipley, 6 saves (T-12th)
- Curran Mitzel's two triples at Oregon Tech on Feb. 25 was the 10th time a WOU player has hit two triples in a game (the most in WOU history) and the first time in 10 years and only the second time since 2003.
- Devin Bell's 10.72 strikeouts per nine innings (29 strikeouts, 24.1 IP) is currently 12th on the WOU single-time list (minimum 15 innings pitched). Grant Fisher owns the record at 15.10 (33 strikeouts in 19.2 IP) set in 2019. Current Wolf Chris Jones is fifth on that list at 13.20 strikeouts per nine (22 in 15 innings) - set last season.

SAINT MARTIN'S NOTES
- The Saints are coming off splitting a series at MSU Billlings, winning the first game 17-8, dropping the second game (15-14) and third game (7-6) before winning the finale 6-1.
- In the series finale win, Colin Driscoll continued his stellar season as he tossed a complete game, giving up a run on six hits with two strikeouts and two walks. The junior right-hander from West Linn, Oregon, leads the GNAC with a 2.92 ERA and also leads the conference in opposing batting average (.204), innings pitched (61.2), hits allowed per nine (6.57 - 29th in D-II)Â and strikeouts (54). He's second in the GNAC and 21st in the country in WHIP at 1.02.
- Against WOU earlier this season, Driscoll tossed a complete game - giving up a run on three hits with seven strikeouts and one walk in a 3-1 win over the Wolves on March 17 in Lacey, Washington.
- SMU's other win in that series came behind a four-hit shutout by Justice Yamashita in the second game on March 16 as he struck out six while walking three and hitting two batters in the 1-0 victory over the Wolves.
- The Saints sit four games behind Central Washington for the third-and-final GNAC postseason tournament spot with eight games to go (four against second-place WOU and four at home against first-place NNU).
- Dylan McLaughlin leads the team in hitting (.336 - 6th in GNAC), doubles (13 - first in GNAC), and RBI (22). Austin Schaler leads the team in hits (43 - 8th in GNAC), slugging (.511 - 8th in GNAC), OPS (.912), home runs (5 - 6th in GNAC), triples (2), runs (28) and stolen bases (7 - T-6th in GNAC) to go along with nine doubles. Against WOU, McLaughlin went 6-for-14 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs. Schaler went 2-for-16 with a double and a run.

WESTERN OREGON NOTES
- The Wolves find themselves in a fight for the fourth and final spot into the GNAC Championships as they are tied with Central Washington at 8-8 for that position with eight games to go. WOU - which split with CWU last weekend in Ellensburg - has No. 17 NNU this week and hosts No. 11 Western Washington next week while the Wildcats play at No. 11 Western Washington this week before closing out the season next week at last-place Simon Fraser. Saint Martin's sits two games ahead of WOU and CWU, but at 12-8 only has four games left and are four wins ahead of WOU and CWU.
- With 14 more strikeouts last week, WOU senior Mackenzee Collins moved to seventh on the Wolves single-season list with 140 strikeouts - which ranks second in the GNAC (one behind Sydney Booth of NNU). She also ranks in the GNAC top five in ERA (1.75 - fifth), opposing batting average (.210 - fourth) and innings pitched (128.1 - third).
- True freshman Alivia Holden continues to shine as she's 8-5 with a 1.80 ERA (sixth in the GNAC) while leading the conference in opposing batting average (.175)
- Natalie Willoughby hit her team-high sixth homer last week, giving her 20Â in her career - sixth on the WOU all-time list. The senior backstop also leads the Wolves with 22 RBI and a .638 slugging percentage (no other player has above a .400) - and in 11 conference games (nine starts), she's turned it up to a .778 slugging percentage as she's 8-for-27 (.296) with four homers, a double, 13 RBI and five runs.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE NOTES
- The Nighthawks are coming off taking three of four at Saint Martin's last week - winning the first three games (4-1, 5-3, 2-0) before dropping the series finale 3-0. NNU was led by GNAC Pitcher of the Week Sydney Booth as she picked up two wins and a save wit ha 0.48 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 14.2 innings of work. Opposing batters hit just .176 off the senior.
- The left-hander Booth is having yet again another dominating season as she's 20-4 with a 1.45 ERA, 141 strikeouts and an opposing batting average of .180 in 140.1 innings of work - leading the conference in wins, ERA, strikeouts and innings while she's second in opposing batting average. Among the GNAC all-time ranks, she's the all-time leader ins strikeouts (744) third in games started (105), innings (703) shutouts (29) and complete games (79), fourth in wins (75), hits allowed per seven (5.22) and opposing batting average (.203), fifth in appearances (122), sixth in winning percentage (.721) and strikeouts per seven (7.41) and 10th in ERA (1.81).
- Booth is also doing it at the plate, hitting .287 with four homers, five doubles, 25 RBI and 19 runs.
- NNU's Gina Skinner is right there with Booth in numerous categories, including having the same ERA (1.45) and having a WHIP under 1 (0.97) in 91.2 innings.
- Abigail Gagnon leads the team with a .365 average wit hfour homers, six doubles and 21 RBI while Clarissa Moreno is hitting .346 with four homers, 10 doubles and 29 runs. EmmaMulligan leads the team with 16 stolen bases and 11 doubles to go along with a .317 average with five homers and 21 RBI while Emma Bumatay leads the team with seven homers and 31 RBI.
