Team coached by Robert McCullough posted the first non-losing season for OCE in ten years. Called the “Monmouth Mites” and “McCullough’s Midgets” among other nicknames, the team’s tallest player was only 6-2. They posted upset after upset on their way to a 13-13 record and a trip to the district playoffs, where their season finally came to an end at the hands of a very tall and talented Lewis & Clark team. The Wolves of that season had no scholarships and did not charge for admission, but as the year went on, they began to pack Old PE and other gymnasiums because of their hustling, exciting brand of basketball.
